This is on the NLS web site Twitter section today. Perhaps this is another club looking to join the Under 20's in future?

Kirkcaldy & Dysart FC @kdydysartfc

We are delighted to announce that former Raith and Aston Villa player PAUL BROWNE has joined the Club’s management team.
While being involved in all football activities at the Club, Paul will have specific responsibility for putting together and managing an Under 20’s squad

It is theoretically possible that all current West Junior clubs may move into the WoS for next season and so become eligible to enter the Under 20's Development League. Also there's supposed to be up to eight East Juniors joining the EoS and so could also potentially enter.

Any ideas as to which clubs seem to be the most likely candidates to enter the Under 20's?

Bellshill Athletic and Kirkcaldy & Dysart are two already mentioned plus Gala. Clydebank seem like an obvious possible plus Drumchapel United PYM as they're deeply involved with under age teams already.

Thoughts?

Big sticking point will be a let and the costs involved for Friday night. Glasgow life charge pitch in 1/3rds fri nights. Drum could be a possibility - If donald dewar is available. 35s league takes a lot of lets as well.

Lot of the current East Kilbride team are 2nd year 19s as well wonder if they’d consider going back in. Rossvale Young 19s team. Lot of clubs not able to support numbers to run 19s and 21s at the moment may merge.

Even without the development league impacting, 40 FORTY % of top flight clubs in the two main leagues here that cover the west have folded this season. Not sure what will be left of 19s football, but the rest may want to latch on to a new wosl club. Glenvale being the case example an excellent setup but no first team.

Also need to consider the well established 21s league who’s members are well rooted to Saturday afternoon. Harmony Row, Tower Hearts, Pollok, Glencairn. Etc. Will be a power struggle there also for players.

Shettleston are starting an U20s and Kilwinning are looking to start one as are Pollok and Rossvale looking into starting an u20s this year

So at the moment you have
Cumbernauld Colts
Clydebank
Braves
BSC
Bellshill
Bonnyton Thistle
Shettleston

Possibly
Kilwinning
Pollok
Rossvale

Dunipace will have an U20s but if regionalises will they be in the WOS or the EOS

there maybe a few more that are not known but quite a few are looking into it

Missing Upper Annandale & Mid Annandale. Uppers use New Tinto whilst Mids use their own ground in Lockerbie (I think).

Forgot to add East Kilbride might be adding a U20s development squad, I believe they are considering it but think they have a reserve team so that might be the reason they don't  start a u20s, all surmising, not heard anything in regards to it.    Also Kirkintilloch Rob Roy are definitely looking into it

Seems to be Kennoway's U17s

That was just their first team the last time I saw them!

Great club though, hope they keep the majority of the young lads together and grow together. Potentially a very tidy footballing team in the making... and a proper ground with a traditional Scottish slope to boot 👌

Disappointed to announce the senior side committee have decided not to enter a u20s side into the development league next season ..

I would like to thank all players past and present for all your hard work for us ...

A massive thanks to Richard Smith for the 2 years we worked together and all your efforts to the last with every player .

Thanks also goes to Euan Cole for all the graft he put into last season developing a good squad on the right path ..

Thank you all and on to the next chapter !!!

I have probably forgotten as opposed to not knowing my question.

What is the criteria for having an U20s side, or is there not one? I initially thought all teams in set-up had to have, obviously so!

i agree with your comment by the way. Real shame that having started with an U20s side that such a decision has been made. If it was for financial reasons, which perhaps, in current times, you could see the reason why.

There is  a criteria regarding where to play and other stuff but in reality its actually cheaper for a development squad than an normal U19s team

You train the same way, (both pay for training lets)
You play a home match (both pay let to host a home match)
Both teams pay for a match referee but difference is you both pay for a referee but the development team receive the money back from the SFA at the end of the season

If a team finishes bottom of their conference so that could be a reason but the development is about development and if there is no lads promising for the first team, I/e potentially good enough then the senior team might not want a development thinking its not worth their while or genuinely they might have that much on that they don't want a development team this year..

They were struggling to raise a team most of last season. Pretty sure they had to forfeit a game or 2 due to lack of numbers. Hopefully the boys that want to play get hooked up to the other clubs around them locally. Of course, with Whitehill Welfare coming back into this league, that’s around another 20 players off the market and there was already a lot of teams active in that area
