Burnie_man
No U20 side for season 2019/20 It is with deep regret that Whitehill Welfare will not be fielding an U20 team next season. As a club, we firmly believe in the importance of developing local players through U17 to U20 and ultimately, senior first team football. As such, the club set aside funds last season to reduce the burden on the U20 team to allow them to focus on coaching and playing and had done so again in our budgeting for the coming season. Unfortunately, other events have come to the fore in recent months that has led to a review of that budget to allow the club’s limited financial resources, and volunteers time, to be redirected to focus on these. This isn’t a decision that has been taken lightly and it saddens us that we’ve been put in a position where we’ve had to choose between football development and ground improvements. The club will be doing everything it can to ensure that this is a one-season break and return to the U20 Development League for the start of season 2020/21.
VillanoXIV
Clearly, they're putting everything into getting floodlights sorted before the deadline so sacrifices have to be made but it's a real shame to see them pull out because the U20s is a great league.

I tried to get a fri night league setup at 21s but although teams were up for it not many could get a fri let. I know kilwinning Gartcairn and Clyde were all really keen. Wonder how we can make this happen in time for next season. Plenty good junior clubs out there. Suppose there's no harm in contacting the SLFL board and asking about next season? (unless you were already told no by them!) Kirkintilloch would surely be able to play as well once their new ground is sorted, Rutherglen have lights if their pitch can cope with Friday night games as well. Do all these West U21 teams play on a Saturday afternoon, on grass pitches?

HibeeJibee
As they use freshers heavily and many returners will live far away, they always receive the first month off, then catch-up. Burnie_man
We looked at entering but too difficult to pull a scratch side together. They need to move this back to U20 otherwise the gradual decline will continue. Edited August 17, 2019 by Burnie_man
Ginaro
Have there been some more changes to the make of the leagues? Was looking at the EOS league tables and saw the U20s ones had been added - seems like there's no Colts, Edusport, or HWU listed?
HibeeJibee
Relax. It will just be to do with first week's fixtures being listed (they only go up weekly on EOSL site). Cumbernauld's odd team in Conference A, while the unis and Edusport start in 4 weeks.

Footballfirst
I watched Tynecastle 3-4 Upper Annandale at Saughton tonight. Entertaining game. Tynie looked to have a very young side. They were deservedly 3-1 up 10 minutes into the second half, but contrived to lose it, with the "uppers" finishing much the stronger side.
