Anyone think a bottom 6 club will get into Europe this season?

Unless they win the scottish cup, then no, no they won't. They'll be in the bottom six.

Or get to the Scottish Cup final and get papped by Celtic or whoever finishes 2nd or 3rd.

If the Jags win the Scottish Cup we will be in Europe no matter where we end up in the league.

But , right enough, its not our turn to win a cup yet. This only comes round every 50 years or so.

That is why we missed out on the Fish 'n' Chip to QoS the other year.

Oh aye, forgot the loser gets in if the winners already in. My bad.

It's the easiest way to get in really.

Falkirk, Gretna, Dunfermline, QOTS and even Hibs have all got into Europe via that route this century.

Hate to disappoint but UEFA changed the rules this season going forward.

"Should the domestic cup winners qualify for the Champions League, the cup runners-up will no longer be granted a spot in the Europa League, and the spot will be given to the highest-placed team in the league which have not yet qualified for European competitions."

This is a much fairer format. At last UEFA get something right.

I agree with that certainly. Hibs, Gretna, Falkirk and Dunfermline have all embarrassed us after qualifying via that route.

That article says if the winners had already qualified for the UCL, but doesn't mention if the winners had already qualified for Europa League.

I assume that would be the same? IE if 2nd beats 10th in the Scottish Cup Final, 4th gets into Europe and 10th doesn't.

And were pumped in the first qualifier to dross from Iceland, Leichtenstein and Ireland etc

In that scenario the highest played league club outwith the europa league spots should take the spot, as the change in rules seems to have implemented from next year, no guarentee that they would improve the fabled coefficient but its certainly the fairest way
