Anyone think a bottom 6 club will get into Europe this season?

Recommended Posts

Hate to disappoint but UEFA changed the rules this season going forward.

"Should the domestic cup winners qualify for the Champions League, the cup runners-up will no longer be granted a spot in the Europa League, and the spot will be given to the highest-placed team in the league which have not yet qualified for European competitions."

So 100% no is the answer now to the OP's question (cup win aside)

I'm very glad nothing is decided by early form.

I mean jesus christ, 1 point out of 18. Yet St Mirren were the first bottom 6 team to be mathematically safe from the drop last season. The only tiny advantage being a game in hand vs Celtic of all teams.

f**k me, I forgot how awful a start to the season that was.

Thanks Smeato, I take a crumb of comfort from that given our start!

I wouldn't take too much from the opening games. They are mostly about getting the team to function competitively. Some teams take longer than others to get to grips with whatever system they're playing.

Our same team that took 7 games to get a win also pumped Dundee Utd 4-1 last season. Form is temporary, class is forever.

^^

Totally not bitter that we haven't won a game yet. :thumbsdown
