Credit to Leith, that's a cracker of a result and only City's second defeat since the start of November. (Ok it was actually a draw but point stands).

I know Leith are top of EOS Premier Division, but still, that's like Hearts beating Celtic.

Interesting to see who they face in the Final.

well done Leith , versus the best from the lowland league as well , even better ,,

thought lowland league teams especially city ,,, would be better but Leith more than held their own ,,,rubbish penalties though lol

so much for EOS teams not being able to compete with the lowland league ,,bring on the final

Brilliant result for Leith against a team that is by far the best team in the Lowland League. Few notes from last night;

Ross Allum does not suit yellow...FACT!!

Kerr Allan' penalty was the worst i've ever seen...FACT!!

Iain Gordon has doubled his penalty save tally in 42 years at seniors...FACT!!

ps Twaddle resigned from Lothian, could he be coming to a Lowland League ground near you soon????

Last season proved the top EOS sides could still get results against LL opponents.

Admittedly this has to be put in some context. In the Image Printers Cup only Leith and also Lothian have beaten LL opponents this season (interestingly all 3 ties were midweek games). In the South Challenge Cup only Heriot-Watt have, beating Gala. And there were none in the Scottish Cup.

Unsurprisingly we find Leith and Lothian placed top 2 in EOS Premier Division, and Heriot-Watt in the First Division promotion hunt with several games in hand.

For aficionados of the SOS League it's worth adding that Newton Stewart have eliminated both Dalbeattie and Threave from the Southern Counties Cup, although they took an absolute doing off Star in the South Challenge Cup. Newton are 1pt off top with 5 games in hand.

  • 2 months later...

(Saturday 25th April)

QF - Vale of Leithen 1-2 Gretna

(Today)

QF - Whitehill 0-2 Lothian Thistle

Lothian now goes on to host Gretna on Wednesday night... Winner of that face Leith in the Final.

Must be a long time since Whitehill lost 7 games from 8, btw?
