Mr Hardy
The two fixtures this week, Leith v Stirling Uni. Gretna v Edinburgh Uni. Firstly what happened to the 'no midweek fixtures' that used to be EoS guideline. Stirling Uni play Tues at Leith with probably a below strength side as I think getting points in the BUCS on Weds away to Northumbria will take priority. Edinburgh on the other hand are not placed in the same position as there 1st XI are without a BUCS fixture this week.

As far as I am aware, they never have existed.

DuklaWandy
Is the Leith Athletic v Stirling Uni game still taking place on Tuesday? Can't find anything about it apart from on here. (Including both teams websites)
HibeeJibee
Presumably. It's on LL & EOS league websites. http://slfl.co.uk/fixtures/fixtures-november/ http://www.eosfl.com/matches.asp?ResultsFixtures=fixtures SFA appointed a referee. http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/RefereeAppointments/EastofScotlandLeague/EastofScotlandLeague/15.%20East%20of%20Scotland%20League%20Saturday%208th%20-%20Wednesday%2012th%20November.pdf Leith manager mentions it. http://www.leithathleticfc.com/index.php/news/600-coldstream-fc-1-6-leith-athletic-fc-08-11-14/ On Tuesday night, we face Stirling University's Lowland League side in the Image Printers' Cup, which will give us a good indication as to where we are at compared to one of the top sides. With a massive league game on Saturday against Easthouses, we'll mix things up a bit in midweek, but we'll still be fielding a strong XI and a group of guys who are absolutely buzzing with confidence at the moment. Mr Hardy
As far as I'm aware the game at Northumbria has a 5 pm kick-off EoS midweek, I once queried with the Uni before the LL set up, as to why we didn't use the floodlights more often by arranging midweek games, the answer that I got back was that the EoS were against midweek fixtures unless they actually set the fixtures, teams were not allowed to arrange the fixtures to suit themselves, thats why I presumed it must be a guideline. HibeeJibee
You'll be correct that clubs won't allowed to arrange their own games. But that won't mean there is or was a "no midweek" rule or guideline: afterall dozens of EOS and now Lowland league games, and to a lesser extent cup-ties, have been played midweek in recent years. I think the difference is that these class of cup-ties apparently still have superiority in the EOS League but not in the Lowland League. So when a tie with a LL club involved loses its original date due to the weather or a Scottish Cup tie or whatever, it will have to go midweek or be played on the date of the next round? EK-Lothian and Ed Uni-Hawick were both played midweek in August/September, and Spartans-Coldstream/Ed City is down for midweek in January. http://www.eosfl.com/matches.asp?sid=6&cid=36&ResultsFixtures=both&clid=All&refid=All&df1=&df2= http://slfl.co.uk/fixtures/fixtures-january/

Cicero
It was a bit of deja vu tonight at Raydale. Tonight's match was very much like Saturday's at Peffermill, Gretna dominated the first half while the Students looked the better team in the second half. However it was Guthrie who opened the scoring for the Uni after a defensive error from Gretna. Scott Milligan equalised for Gretna a few minutes later. Then just before half time Longcake scored another cracker of a goal (very similar to the one on EKFC TV). The students looked better in the second half but were pretty woeful in front of goal. Gretna made sure of the tie when Tait dropped a Milligan free kick at the feet of Iain Anderson who made no mistake in finding the net.
HibeeJibee
An apparently resurgent Heriot-Watt shocked another higher-level side yesterday to advance through to next week's QF v Leith. That means the draw now looks as follows: Second Round Sat 13 Sep - Burntisland 0-7 Spartans Sat 04 Oct - Easthouses 1-4 Lothian Thistle Tue 11 Nov - Leith 3-2 Stirling Wed 12 Nov - Gretna 3-1 Edinburgh Uni Sat 29 Nov - Civil Service 0-1 Heriot-Watt Sat 06 Dec - Coldstream v Edinburgh City Sat 06 Dec - Vale of Leithen v Gala Sat 06 Dec - Whitehill v Selkirk Third Round Sat 06 Dec - Heriot-Watt v Leith Wed 14 Jan - Spartans v Coldstream/Edinburgh City ____________ Vale/Gala v Gretna ____________ Whitehill/Selkirk v Lothian Thistle
surely not!
An apparently resurgent Heriot-Watt shocked another higher-level side yesterday to advance through to next week's QF v Leith] Appreciate what you're saying HJ, but I don't think we can classify eos Premier as a higher level than eos First any more. They're now only classified as such because of the want of some to have two leagues rather than a 17 team singular division.
HibeeJibee
I think the gap is smaller than in the other levels of the pyramid, but there is still a gap. Duns were the only EOS1 club to qualify for the League Cup. In the knockout cups this season Premier clubs have won 9 ties, the First Division clubs 4. In the Qualifying League was 10 v 3, + 1 draw. HibeeJibee
Looks like you're now 'first-footing' Heedthebaa... Whitehill came from 2 down to demolish Selkirk 6-2 on Saturday (in R2) and Leith put 3 past Heriot-Watt (in R3). But the other ties got frozen-off. With the middle rounds of the competition starting to emulate Wagner's Ring Cycle, going by LL website this is now the state-of-play. http://slfl.co.uk/fixtures/fixtures-january/ http://www.eosfl.com/col.asp?cid=55 Second Round Sat 13 Sep - Burntisland 0-7 Spartans Sat 04 Oct - Easthouses 1-4 Lothian Thistle Tue 11 Nov - Leith 3-2 Stirling Wed 12 Nov - Gretna 3-1 Edinburgh Uni Sat 29 Nov - Civil Service 0-1 Heriot-Watt Sat 06 Dec - Whitehill 6-2 Selkirk Sat 03 Jan - Coldstream v Edinburgh City Sat 24 Jan - Vale of Leithen v Gala Third Round Sat 06 Dec - Heriot-Watt 0-3 Leith Wed 14 Jan - Spartans v Coldstream/Edinburgh City Sat 24 Jan - Whitehill v Lothian Thistle ____________ Vale/Gala v Gretna Semi-Finals Sat 24 Jan - Leith v Spartans/Coldstream/Edinburgh City ____________ Whitehill/Lothian v Vale/Gala/Gretna
HibeeJibee
Bump. This continues to trundle along, at what could be described as sedate pace, with Coldstream 0-4 Edinburgh City and Vale of Leithen 1-0 Gala finally finishing R2 yesterday. According to LL and EOS websites this leaves things looking like: Third Round Sat 06 Dec - Heriot-Watt 0-3 Leith Sat 07 Feb - Whitehill v Lothian Thiste Tue 10 Feb - Spartans v Edinburgh City Vale of Leithen v Gretna Semi-Finals Tue 24 Feb - Leith v Spartans/Edinburgh City Whitehill/Lothian v Vale/Gretna

The date of the Vale v Gretna match is still to be decided. I doubt many of our players would get away that early from work for the 2 o'clock kick-off that would be required to avoid playing the match in the dark.
