Draw tomorrow. Sometime.

SFA seem to have decided to treat the opening rounds as if it's a different competition, vacuum of coverage.

Highland League (15)... Buckie Thistle, Clachnacuddin, Cove Rangers, Deveronvale, Formartine United, Forres Mechanics, Fraserburgh, Huntly, Keith, Lossiemouth, Nairn County, Rothes, Strathspey Thistle, Turriff United, Wick Academy

Lowland League (9)... Dalbeattie Star, East Kilbride, Edinburgh City, Gala Fairydean Rovers, Gretna 2008, Preston Athletic, Selkirk, Threave Rovers, Whitehill Welfare

East of Scotland League (3)... Coldstream, Civil SS, Lothian Thistle HV

North Caledonian League (1)... Golspie Sutherland

Juniors (6)... Auchinleck Talbot, Banks o'Dee, Bo'ness Utd, Culter, Girvan, Linlithgow Rose

+ replays (2)... Edinburgh University (LL) v Hurlford Utd (Jnr), Hawick RA (EOS) v Newton Stewart (SOS)

Best non-LL draws... home to Rothes, Strathspey; Civil SS, Hawick RA/Newton; Golspie; Girvan.

Worst non-LL draws... away to Nairn, Fraserburgh, Formartine; Auchinleck, Bo'ness, Linlithgow.

By and large favourable draws for LL clubs, although unfortunate for there to be 2 all-LL ties.

Edinburgh City, Dalbeattie and Whitehill will rightly start favourites in their ties. If they can progress past Hurlford then Clach away is tough, but reasonable, tie for Edinburgh Uni. East Kilbride will have a hard job against EOS champion Lothian, but they beat them by the odd goal in 9 in last season's SCC Semi-Final, and the pair meet in the EOS Qualifying Cup next Wednesday at K-Park.

Selkirk, despite their improvements, have a pretty formidable task v Bo'ness.

Auchinleck v Buckie Thistle
Clachnacuddin v Hurlford / Edinburgh University
Cove v Newton Stewart / Hawick
Culter v Strathspey Thistle
Deveronvale v Nairn County
Edinburgh City v Coldstream
Forres Mechanics v Civil SS
Fraserburgh v Linlithgow Rose
Golspie v Dalbeattie
Gretna
v Gala

Huntly v Wick
Keith v Formartine
Lossiemouth v Turriff
Lothian THV v East Kilbride
Preston
v Threave
Rothes v Banks o'Dee
Selkirk v Bo'ness
Whitehill v Girvan

That's correct.

1994-95

Scottish Qualifying Cup South

Second Round

Whitehill Welfare 10-0 Girvan

You've also met once competitively in the South Challenge Cup.

2007-08

South Challenge Cup

Second Round

Girvan 3-2 Whitehill Welfare

(reversed from Rosewell due to pitch conditions)

However, in the next round Girvan scratched to Creetown to play a Junior game instead.

They did the same the following season when drawn against Lothian Thistle (ironically the Junior game was frozen-off as I recall).

They were thereafter debarred from the competition sine die.

Finally, you were drawn to play each other in the inaugural Inter-League Cup.

2001-02

"Soccer World" Inter-League Cup

First Round

Girvan WO-Scr Whitehill Welfare

Whitehill Welfare scratched due to fixture congestion. Girvan then scratched the Semi-Final at Cove due to the cost of travelling.

Cove Rangers, to whom Tarff had scratched in R1 due to fixture congestion, won the Final 1-0 in what was their first match in the cup!!

It was then abolished.

  • 3 weeks later...

Selkirk, despite their improvements, have a pretty formidable task v Bo'ness.

And so it proved, the BUs win 4-0 at Selkirk including two goals in the last 15 mins so the full-time training doesn't seem to be helping much, but Whitehill Welfare managed to beat Girvan 3-1 based on what's on thejuniors.info so far.
