Sportsound Watch

Wow, has McIntyre managed to find his own scrotum ?
Two days a row McIntyre has called out Chick Young. First he calls him David Murray's lapdog then today he tore him apart for misquoting himself (and Tony Fitzpatrick) over recent podcasts.[emoji1787]

If it keeps Leanne Crichton away then I don't see the issue.

She's worse than Crichton, who I think could be OK if she was alongside a more experienced host. But anyway, it's not instead of Crichton - Crichton is still doing Friday night Championship Sportscene on TV, with Sutherland instead of Thompson, while Lewis is hosting Sunday Sportsound on the radio.

I think she just gives me a rare dose of the old Scottish cringe, she doesn't have any weirder views than the rest of the BBC groupthink tbf and when not just given 20 seconds to go over something in a championship game talks some sense.  Hopefully a bit more polished by the time she inevitably gets the sportscene gig.

Have they confirmed if they'll still be not having a show when there's a full midweek card?  Always find it weird they don't do those.

If they're doing a show for a single Monday night game then surely they're doing one for a full card of midweek games.

I don't mean this as a dig but with genuine concern. Does McLeish have Parkinson's or something?
It was pretty standard Sportsound fare. I don't mind Preston being clueless, he isn't a journalist he is a court jester whose job is to bring a bit of colour and enthusiasm to Open All Mics.
The continuing failure of English et al to  understand how the Scottish football and the court case works is seriously grating now.
Alcoholism.

Crichton is bad but has definitely improved in her short time doing it.

Lewis was bad when she started, and has somehow got worse over the multiple years she's been on.

I really don't mind Leanne Crichton, but Jane Lewis is just annoying. When she's on Off The Ball she laughs everytime anyone says anything, anything at all.

Leanne Chrichton & Steven Thomson on the Championship coverage was absolutely atrocious. Neither of them has a personality. In that I mean you can seem fine in real life, but on the TV the 2 of them were the human equivalent of mogadon.

I do not care who is presenting (male, female a.n. other), but I wish the BBC would give the jobs to those with actual ability. It isn't easy to come across well on TV with in-ear chatter, camera changes etc, but like all skills , some have it some don't. Some are natural, some can learn and some aren't and can't. Surely it isn't too much to ask to get people who can speak clearly, concise and without shouting(the microphone & sound people will do it for you so you don't have to shout) and who don't sound like their batteries are running out and can't look in the right camera.

There must be plenty that can do it, without having to give it to the first ex player you're mates with that is aural mogadon.

The presenters should surely have a good insight and knowledge of the teams they are talking about. It feels as though S Thomson and L Crichton are winging it and their lack of confidence in their topic shows through. Just a suggestion, but would (some of) the View from the Terrace boys make a better job, or are they specialist niche type of presenters?
