Maurice Ross spent a couple of minutes defending the conduct of Rangers fans at the weekend, then denied that he had. He always sounds as if he’s about 5 seconds away from thumping the nearest person to him for daring to ask him a question.

Embryonic MacGregor

must be something to do with the team

That's twice in as many weeks that they've acknowledged there's been a goal at another match and not gone to the commentators at that game.    Last night when the Sainties scored 'Theres been a goal in the Hamilton game' but they didn't go to it or say what team had scored because fucking TCFKAR had a corner.  In a game they were winning.  The last time was on 'Open some mikes' programme when they stayed with the Celtic game when there was a goal in the St Miren game.

I'm fairly mellow and level headed, but f**k sake...!  The BBC haven't even been allowed inside Ibrox for years, why do they continually pander to these people?

they did not send their fans round to infect the BBC

Yup.  The Sportsound team isn't exactly stellar, but if they ditched Chick and Preston (well, OK, let's add Bonner too) then the programme would be significantly more listenable.  I wonder if anyone at the BBC ever does performance appraisals on these goons?  It seems they have jobs for life - which is bad news for us listeners.

Saturday was the first time I've listened to the show for a good hour rather than catching a few odd minutes. These two kill the format. Chick took his trademark sarky, spoilt attitude beloved by no one and was personally affronted that two teams battling at the bottom of the Championship were not delivering a goalfest.

Allan "tragic nickname" Preston continually derailed the show through his inane clubhouse patter and rudely interrupting colleagues' goal reports with unnecessary substitution/half-chance roars in his horrific Scrappy-Doo voice.

Two charmless, unprofessional, obsolete people who'd have been shown the door years ago if there was any accountability or pride in the production.

I posted this on the OTB thread which shares the same view of "Biscuits" and his performance appraisal:

And Tam and Stuart, who are continually having a go at journalists/media for waltzing into games for free with an aggravated sense of entitlement - and not even making a token gesture to help clubs with even a donation towards the gate - let him [Biscuits] off very quickly when he questioned why he should "have to pay to get into my work?". aye, Biscuits, if you had a line manager like any other employee you appear to be comparing yourself to, you would have been on a performance improvement plan years ago and would very likely have gotten your jotters shortly afterwards......

The more I listen to Mo Ross, the more I dislike him.

 He's trying so hard to be a 'Rangers man' it's absolutely hilarious.

Also you're right about how raging he is. Broadfoot with a joking 'steady on' re the point about Tavernier & Beckham and he sounded like he was about to stick the head on him.

Absolutely delighted we've emptied him tbqh.

He kind of kept a lid on things a bit when he initially replaced Craigan and he did one really good interview with the MFC Podcast that made him seem a bit less cuntish but recently...fucking hell.

Shortly before he got the Reserves gig with us he did an Open Goal with Si Ferry and his staunchness was uncomfortably apparent. IIRC he was talking up John Brown as having been an influence on him which, let's be honest, should be enough to get you on a list.

Why do the BBC not just tell Rangers that unless they get access and given permission to commentate games at Ibrox then they will not even mention their results and carry on as though they don’t exist.

Because its nigh on impossible to articulate that message properly without extracting the "BBC tongue" from the "Rangers arse".

They are free to cover our games, they choose not too.

Coincidentally I saw this tonight. Tbh it's went for so long that it's became the norm, no one's really fussed about them ignoring us.

BBC SCOTLAND say they are 'keen' to end a long-running dispute with Rangers after airing a rare interview with an Ibrox star.

Listeners of their flagship daily radio football show, Sportsound, were able to tune into a chat with Gers midfielder Steven Davis

But a spokesperson for the public broadcaster said that they had run the interview as part of the station's "coverage of the team's title success" and added that they "are keen to find a resolution to the long standing dispute".

Their statement read: "Sportsound broadcast a clip of an interview with Steven Davis on BBC Northern Ireland as part of our coverage of the team’s title success

Rangers are c***s, for sure, but one of the main broadcasters of the national football top-flight ignoring the existence of one of the clubs would make for quite strange listening. Especially awkward since it's one of the more high-profile clubs.

Not sure this would add to the coverage.

But somehow it's normal listening to hear them to pretty much ignore the existence of ten of the clubs in the top flight, unless they affect somehow the other two.
