Remember that BBC Radio Scotland made ex-rugby man John Beattie their main news anchor ahead of experienced (and good) professionals. (They are currently in the process laying off a few weel kent news presenters). He could have given what he thought was a good interview but didn't quite hit the points or give the answers that were required. Or he could have given a great interview but they went with someone else instead. Does seems very strange though that someone with so little experience gets a role so quickly in what must be one of Radio Scotland's most listened to programmes. It could be extreme natural talent, it could be luck, it could be both, but it seems such an unusually fast progression that one has to imagine that there's some other connection for someone to get so far so quickly. The likes of Billy Dodds, James McFadden and the like will have been interviewed by folk from the BBC probably at least every other week for much of their career so they'd undoubtedly build a rapport with some of these journalists who'll give them a foot in the door when their football careers come to an end. Not that I agree with that of course - Pat Bonnar's knowledge of everything outwith Celtic is pretty hopeless whenever I've listened to him but you can understand how it happens. They are a tiny team so she probably just got asked to front it out of necessity. From there it's hardly a huge leap to being asked to go and cover a game. I highly doubt there is any interview process or a contract. She will be freelance and getting about 100 quid for it.
