Another belter from Hughes.

Celtic seemingly win most games because they have a 'winning cultyur!'.

Nothing to do with the massive disparity in resources. They didn't win against St Johnstone because they were able to bring on 5 quality players from the bench.

No, it was the 'winning culture'.

Pretty much this.

You can tell he's a decent guy, and he does know his football (he's got a decent managerial record, with some obvious exceptions in there).

But f**k me he should be nowhere near the radio or telly for punditry.

This is an excellent post, but I'm enjoying the notion of Willie Miller scoring a goal in 2005.

Willie Miller once scored a great goal , an overhead kick , in a European game.

IIRC against Gothenburg 2 - 2 at Pittroddie , Aberdeen home

John Hughes is knowledgeable? Certainly not about Scottish football.

I noted earlier that he thinks Edinburgh City get crowds of about 1000 for most home games.

He now just rolled out the gem that "Scottish football needs all our top clubs in the SPL" in reference to Dundee United and Hearts.

The anchor (McLeod I think?) then noted that all the 'top teams' hadn't been in the top league together for about a decade.

Hmmmm...

Are we going to see who made your top 6?

Nah, it's non-specific.

I just figured that with over 7 billion currently alive and countless generations preceding ours, there are bound to have been some pretty thick people.

Placing Hughes in the top 8 for instance however, would have felt too generous to him.

He's not knowledgeable in that sense - but he knows football.

His thick accent also makes him an incredibly easy target.
