Central Sectional League Cup Group 4

It looks like a 3-horse race now in Group 4 between favourites Blantyre Victoria, 2nd placed Rutherglen Glencairn and 3rd placed Vale of Clyde. East Kilbride Thistle arithmetically could still win the section, but they would require all the results from now on to go in their favour.

Blantyre's win at home to Vale today means that they could win the section on Wednesday night if they win at East Kilbride in their last game of the group. Any other result would leave the group open for the winner of next Saturday's Glencairn v Vale match, regardless of the result between Vale and Cambuslang on Wednesday night.

Cambuslang v Glencairn today was an interesting game, 'Lang edging it first half but then self-destructing in the second half by getting two men sent off, and Glens keeping their patience and discipline to finally break down the 'Lang defence. A full report will be on here later tonight.

Blantyre v Vale looks like it would have been a good game, any reports from anybody at that game ?

not much football played tbh peter no excuses we got beat and that's the bottom line. But when you aren't getting protection from refs when players are getting constantly fouled there ain't going to be any football played. Some of the refs answers to questions were at best bizarre

Pictures and a full match report from Cambuslang Rangers v Rutherglen Glencairn are here.

Cant help but think that the 2 games we have played are 'Ones that got away'

We should have one both to be fair.

Glens game in particualr. Peter is spot on, we lost the game rather than Glens winning it.

Caused our own problems although the ref didnt help.

Glens man. Irvine I think, escaped a red card for lifting his hands but the ref took the easy option by booking both players, with Dymock already having been booked in the first half he was sent off.

Burnsy had a mad rush of blood to the head and he was off, and it was all but game over.

Glencairns winner, I was admant it was outside the box, but video shows otherwise, doesnt hide the fact Deco went down under the slightest of touches, cant grumble as we benifited from it for years :thumsup2

As things stand we are all of the impression, things are going along just nicely at Cambuslang but a wee win for moral boosting wouldnt go a miss.

When things click we will be just fine in the 2nd division. Sort out the disipline and get a settled back four and we are laughing, if only it was that easy.

Looking forward to the cambuslang game tomorrow night. And hoping if we do the business and ek can get a wee cheeky win against Blantyre to set up a cracker on sat. Wishful thinking eh? Haha

Was happening with McLaughlin and Agnew thought they were back playing

McLaughlin is scheduled to be back in a few weeks, he was always going to miss the start of the season under the timescales given by the medics, but he has done a full pre season. Agnew unfortunately is not available to play at the moment.

JC, if you win, then even if EKT get a draw against Blantyre tomorrow night, it would be winner-takes-all in our match on Saturday. If Blantyre win tomorrow night they would win the group, if they draw we'd need to beat you by two goals.

Lots of "ifs" and "buts", we'll have a clearer picture this time tomorrow night.

I saw enough from Cambuslang on Saturday to know that they'll do well this season.

I didn't think Irvine deserves a red card, yes he lifted his hands but it was hardly aggressive, and it was a bad tackle. Dymock's first yellow card was what got him the red, it was stupid as he'd just scored and half-time was only seconds away, he should have screwed the nut, but he was probably still running on the adrenalin of having just scored. The red card for Burns was simply the easiest decision ever for a referee, it was an atrocious challenge and Irvine is lucky he saw it coming or he may have been very seriously injured.

But apart from that, It was a very tight game up until Lang self-destructed, after that it was, only a matter of time and patience till Glens got the goals. We'll never know what would have happened had it stayed as 11 v 11, we can only speculate.
