Spartans 2 Stirling Univ 1

As Grim is on his holibobs no highlights this week. Here is my take on things.

Spartans made a flying start and led after 7 mins following a flowing passing move which was finished with an accurate shot by Bremner. Stirling slowly got into the game and on 34 mins Geddes wrongfooted a couple of home defenders before smashing home from just inside the box.

The home side regained the lead 4 mins later as McLeod (who else) turned in the 6 yard box to shoot past the keeper.

Second half got bogged down in the midfield and there wasn't much goalmouth action. Good performances from new signings Stevenson (Grinchy) and Herd with the return of MacKinnon giving more strength to the defence for Spartans. For the visitors I thought Robertson, Crooks and the always dangerous Geddes the better players. Both teams will be there or thereabouts come April.

Miserable day weather-wise, but I hope the visitors from Liverpool and Sheffield enjoyed their day.
