Talbot squad and player information for fellow programme editors.

THE BOYS FROM BEECHWOOD.

ANDY LEISHMAN (GK): A product of the boys club system Andrew made his Junior debut with Kello Rovers. He decided in a short lay off from the game but joined Lugar where he caught the eye of Tommy Sloan. Joined in the season 2010. after a stirring display against Hearts in the Scottish Cup he was invited to train with the Tynecastle side ROBERT KERR (GK) Robert was brought in from the amateur grade for cover when Brian McGarritty left for Glenafton. Still to play a competitive match but showed his mettle during a friendly against Darvel recently. ALLY PARK (DEF): Logan lad Ally started his career with Auchinleck club Shankly BC, where he attracted the eye of the Rangers scouts. He joined the Ibrox club but was released in 2008 where he joined Hibernian. He was a part of the U19 side who took the 2008/09 SPL title which was the first time ever that the trophy had left Glasgow. He had the last laugh concerning Rangers when he lifted the Scottish Under 19 cup at Hampden after a 2-1 extra time win. The Rangers side that day had the likes of Wilson, Hutton, Ness and Wylde in their ranks. Freed in 2009 Ally joined Clyde where he racked up 34 appearances scoring two goals in his first season. He re-signed for the 2010/11 season where he played against Rangers in a friendly and came up against the likes of Bougherra, McCulloch, Papic and Miller. Although turning out as a regular for the "Bully Wee" he was released by Clyde as Manager Jim Duffy rang the changes. JAMES LATTA (DEF): James signed for Ayr United on an S.Form in 2001 where he enjoyed a four year spell with the Honest Men. He made his first squad appearance in 2002 as a substitute against Ross County. During the 2002/03 James made his first start against St Johnstone. James's last senior appearance came in a Scottish Cup defeat by Stirling Albion. In 2004 James joined Talbot and has enjoyed great success gaining three Scottish Cup winning medals. MARTIN McGOLDRICK: Signed in 2010 from Maryhill as a right back Martin has moved in to central defence. A talented player who's ball distribution is second to none. Was a Scottish Juvenile Cup winner with Harmony Row before turning professional with Albion Rovers in 2008. He made 10 appearances with the Coatbridge club. He was freed in July 2009 joining Maryhill. WILLIE LYLE (DEF): Catrine lad Willie was a protege of the Talbot youth system before signing senior with Ayr United in 2002. He made his senior debut as a substitute against Falkirk on the 3rd of August 2002. The following season he was a member of the Ayr side that lost narrowly to Rangers at Somerset in the Scottish Cup. In the 2004/05 season Willie bagged his first competitive goal in a Scottish tie against Edinburgh City. He moved to Raith Rovers the following season, and Stranraer the season after. In 2007 he joined Stenhousemuir where he played regularly until the end of the 2012 season. CHIC CONNELLY (MID): Chic joined on a free transfer from Bo’ness at the middle of this season. He has the distinction of playing for Talbot, Cumnock and Glenafton and during his time with the latter two he was well thought of by the support of both clubs. Has been making appearances from the bench recently after getting back to full fitness and was outstanding when he came on against Lesmahagow. Chic is definitely a great signing considering he cost nothing and is definitely an asset to the squad. KENNY CONNELLY (MID): Kenny started his career with Motherwell and made his first team debut in a Scottish Cup tie against Airdrie United on 6 January 2007. He appeared twice in the Scottish Premier League for the club against Dundee United in March and May 2007.] A broken leg set Connolly's career back and despite winning a contract extension in the summer of 2008, the player was released in the January 2009 transfer window.

Connolly joined Ayr United from Motherwell on loan on 16 January 2009 and made his debut the following day in a league match away to Stirling Albion. He signed a permanent contract for the club during the summer of 2009. On his release from Ayr in the summer of 2010, Connolly had a trial period with Clyde but was not offered a contract. Connolly signed for Auchinleck Talbot in October 2010 and was part of their 2010–11 Scottish Junior Cup winning team at the end of that season. He moved on to Kirkintilloch Rob Roy in February 2012.Returning to Talbot in June 2013 MARK ARMOUR (MID): Mark was signed last season from the highly successful Bonnyton Thistle Boys Club. A natural left footer Talbot will be his first club outside boy’s club football. He was recently loaned to Kilwinning Rangers but after a few games returned to Beechwood. Mark is definitely one for the future DWAYNE HYSLOP (MID): Signed from Annbank United in 2012 the talented big midfielder has been through some tough times recently with a recurring knee problem. Broke down during our recent league match against Pollok, but thankfully a successful operation has put paid to Dwayne’s woe’s. GRAHAM WILSON (MID): Talented left footer who signed for Cumnock from Bonnyton Thistle Boys Club. Graham became a regular at Townhead and scored twice after coming off the bench in Cumnock's 3-0 extra time win over Thorton Hibs in the 2008 Scottish Cup semi final. Graham did make an appearance in the final coming on as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat by Bathgate.

He later joined Dumbarton but after only 5 appearances he returned to Cumnock where he helped our bitter rivals hang on to their Premier League mantle. Stepped over the great divide two seasons ago and has been an instant hit at Beechwood. Graham went through a major knee operation at the end of last year. STEVEN WHITE (MID): Signed in 2006 Stevie has proven to be one of the clubs best assets. Plucked from obscurity as a workmanlike midfielder who had spells at lower league clubs Craigmark and Annbank his no prisoner style of play makes him a favourite at Beechwood. Stevie also has the gift and craft to turn games on its head.Steven had a shaky start to his tenure at Beechwood due to being played out of position. He enjoyed a move to the centre of midfield where his skill to break up play has been beneficial to Talbots tactical style. Stevie shocked the Talbot faithful by scoring in the semi tie. BRYAN YOUNG (MID): Signed 2005 from Ross County Brian started his career at Beechwood as a raw youngster. It was the Talbot back room staff’s belief that he would turn out to be a top player as he matured and since then he is a permanent fixture in the Talbot team. He recently turned down a contract with Stranraer to stay at Talbot and has been a cult legend at Beechwood for a free kick that won the Premier title for Talbot back in 2006. KEIR MILLIKEN (MID): Keir started his career as a left back during his boys club days and was still playing that position when he moved to the Juniors with Ardrossan Winton Rovers. He then was snapped up by Chris Strain and joined Irvine Meadow where his game time was limited. Due to injuries to the Meadow forward line he played on the wing on several occasions and continues to do so in a Talbot jersey. Runs all day and is famous for chasing lost causes and turning them into chances. COLIN SPENCE (MID): Colin is a former Gretna player where he joined from Bonnyton Thislte. He only made one appearance for the now defunct senior side before moving to Talbot. Colin is the craft in the Talbot engine room and is better known for his assists rather than his goals. However when he scores you can guarantee it’s going to be a screamer. DAVID GORMLEY (STR): Prolific scorer at any level and a shock signing at the beginning of last season. Davie has had senior experience with Ayr United and Alloa Athletic as well as Junior stints with Glenafton and Rob Roy. He is unstoppable inside the box and is a throwback to the old style bustling centre forward who is only too happy to set up a chance for his fellow players. He has a cannon of a right foot and weighs in quite regularly with a penalty kick. GORDON POPE: This player needs no introduction to the Beechwood faithful as he returns from a season at Ayr United. Gordon was a regular selection at Somerset Park playing 32 times and scoring once. A natural left back he can also fill in at the centre of defence. He also had senior experience with Dundee United and Montrose. WILLIE BOYD: No nonsense defender who has enjoyed spells at youth level with Kilmarnock and Queens Park. He later made the move to Greenock morton where he played with the reseves. While at Cappielow he was loaned out to Largs Thistle last season where he made 18 appearances. Willie trained with the Talbot at the latter end of the season and signed on the dotted line at the beginning of this season. MARK CAMPBELL: A central defender with bags of senior experience, with spells at Stranraer, Falkirk, QOS. Ayr, St Johnstone and Raith Rovers. Mark who hails from Auchinleck and who’s dad Tam played for Talbot during the 70’s dropped to the Junior grade a couple of seasons ago when he signed for Irvine Meadow.
