Brilliant performance from Saints. Totally outclassed Motherwell from start to finish.

Goodwin booked for first foul. Then sent of for, well, no idea. Must have been something he said. But Murray must have superhuman hearing.

Really think Jim needs to get out of Scottish football. New season, same old stuff.

Gutted to have lost, but really encouraged by that performance - albeit it was against Well's under 20s

Frustrating.

Motherwell have mastered the art of grinding out wins over the last 2/3 years. That's why they are the best of the rest in this country.

Sounds like there was a lot of positives from us today, would like to see Brown given a chance in midfield against Accies.

We were by far the better side throughout.

No idea why Goodwin walked so assuming it was for back chatting the ref that really is scandalous for a guy in a position of power now with in the club. How is he supposed to stand in a dressing room and tell everyone to be calm and keep the head etc.

Very disappointed with that result but can't fault the performance at all!! Even your most biased Motherwell fan would have to agree we deserved something from that game.

Thought Tesselaar played very well and Plummer looks like a good find. Marwood looks sharp but frustrated at times , always wanted to take an extra touch instead of getting a shot away.

Encouraging stuff and hopefully 3 points against Hamilton on Wednesday night.

Some delusional st mirren fans on here. Sub par forwards that will struggle to score all season. If they couldn't hit the net against half a defense and a 12 year old goalie the proper teams are going to shut them out with ease.

Poor Jim, won't even be able to be in the dug out for the next match.

Standard win for the mighty Motherwell. Looks like another easy top 6 for us. :)

Really entertaining game that could have went either way. We didn't take any of our chances, Motherwell took one of theirs.

Thought we played well for long parts, as did Motherwell.

They are the second best team in the nation for a reason, they do what they do and they do it well.

Lasley is a dirtier player than Goodwin, yet he is portrayed as the housewives favourite whereas Goody is known as the devil incarnate. This public perception Keith has built up is tremendous credit to himself. He does what he does well, and he gets away with it, I wish he played for his hometown club.

Motherwell are the second best team in the country and I think they will finish second yet again. This was a tougher opener for us than either Aberdeen away or Dundee Utd away would have been. Yet even still we could - and perhaps should - have got something.

Our season starts on Wednesday.

Excellent performance by Saints, didn't deserve to lose. Motherwell looked a shadow of the team they were last year.

Missed Goodwin's first booking and no idea what the second was for since it took so longer between giving the free kick and booking him. Didn't think he was overly zealous in his tackling today compared to some of his performances last year. McGinn, Plummer and Tesselaar were stand outs for Saints. If we play like that goals will come and we'll be fine.

Very encouraging stuff from Saints today. Special mention for the Motherwell right back, he's shite.

Good result with a team who were clearly carrying a few injuries, Reid and Kerr in particular.

Agree Saints deserved something maybe from the game but if you don't take your chances you don't win games.

Never mind Lasley and Goodwin, the dirtiest player on the pitch was clearly McGinn!! The boys clearly a very very good player but there was no need for some off his over the top late tackles. Committed about 5 in the 2nd half alone. How he wasn't booked I'll never know.

Great too see big Erwin score, he looks a very decent talent.

Happy with the result but we need to pick up our performance/fitness level.

Callum Ball is well named, he's virtually spherical!

Cannae hit a barn door either.

St. Mirren played well but had no cutting edge whatsoever. We had Zane Francis-Angol at left back, Fraser Kerr at centre back and a half fit Craig Reid at right back and we still kept a clean sheet!

As far as Motherwell are concern it was a poor performance from us and we were yet again left looking sluggish and half paced. Erwin took his chance that was fitting because he was probably our best outfield player.

Scrappy performance but it's the first 3pts on the board. We are dodgy down the right and a team with a decent striker would have scored today. The Goodwin sending off was coming he yapped away at every decision and obviously pushed the Ref to far.
