Colin M
On the subject of Southern Rap - not really my forte although would easily have any of the first four Outkast albums in there, and I would definitely find space for Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury. GingerSaint
I voted for Stankonia but like Colin said, their first four are all outstanding and it could have been any one of them on a different day.

DAFC
Listening to some Wu-Tang tonight, definitely should be in the top three. http://youtu.be/JyxBCzLh-Tc
mrcat1990
I think it's fair to say 36 Chambers will be number one. That or Straight Outta Compton.

Boostin' Kev
Liquid Swords is a great album probably my most listened to of 1995.
Nizzy
'Liquid Swords' is another album that could've, probably should've, made my top ten, but didn't. But neither Neither did '...36 Chambers' or 'Straight Outta Compton'.
Nizzy
I hope Colin doesn't mind, but I thought posting my top ten would give us something to chew over while we wait for the final few entries... 1. Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back 2. Nas - Illmatic 3. A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory 4. Main Source - Breaking Atoms 5. KRS-ONE - Return Of The Boom Bap 6. Pete Rock & CL Smooth - Mecca And The Soul Brother 7. Souls Of Mischief - 93 'til Infinity 8. Common Sense - Resurrection 9. The Roots - Things Fall Apart 10. Blackalicious - Nia
Boostin' Kev
Thought about creating a separate thread as well, this thread has thrown up a few good talking points. Good list, although I think The Roots are really overrated. I like Black Thought as an MC but I find them boring generally.
Nizzy
I'd say their output's been patchy, but 'Things Fall Apart' was, for me, the moment the planets aligned for them.
Boostin' Kev
You not so keen on the Juice Crew or DITC Nizzy? Compiling a top 10 would kill me but Long Live The Kane and one of Stunts, Blunts and Hip Hop or Funky Technician would be in there.
Nizzy
Albums that I considered, yeah, but the problem for me was that they're really good records with some fine stand-out moments. Those I've listed are, for me, pretty damn flawless and flow seamlessly from track to track. Another that should probably be in there is 'Prose Combat'. Get your new thread on the go and I'll gleefully post a few of my favourite tracks a day.

Nizzy
Pretty sure It Takes A Nation was my number 1 as well. The Roots best tune is easily '100% Dundee' Reckon 'It Takes A Nation...' will have featured highly on a few lists. I can only surmise that those who've omitted it from their expected top 3/4s have never heard it.Haha...that was the song that got me into them! jagfox
I went for Fear of a Black Planet more for sentimental reasons as it was the sound of my school days.
Nizzy
That reminds me...still haven't viewed 'Prophets of Rage'. Now seems as good a time as any. Any other hip hop docs I should watch? What's the name of the fairly new one on 'Illmatic'?
