Mr Bairn
Chance for some serious medals for the Scots in tonight's finals. Kimberley Renicks, her sister Louise and Stephanie Inglis are all into their respective finals and guaranteed medals. John Buchanan, James Millar and Connie Ramsey will all fight for bronze. ScottMc77
That's great news. I just checked the Glasgow 2014 website and we have another man (from Inverness) still to fight his semi final this afternoon, so I suppose he will be guaranteed a fight in one of the medal fights later too. I'm not sure that losing a semi-final guarantees you a chance to fight for a bronze in judo, it's strange. The winning finalist gets gold, the losing finalist gets silver, but then there's some weird system where the losing quarter-finalists get a chance to re-enter the competition and fight for bronze, but only if the guy that beat them wins his next fight. Bizarre.
HibeeJibee
Yeh, it's a sort of strange repechage system... From the Olympics I (hazily) think the idea is that you can't actually miss-out on a medal only by losing 1 tie, but I'm not 100% sure.
ScottMc77
Just had a look for the last time Judo was part of the games, to see how we did back then. It was Manchester 2002 and Scotland won 10 medals (1 gold, 3 silver & 6 bronze).
