banterman86
Call me cynical but that this story appears so soon after. Salmond's safety has been an issue before - I think last year there was talked of increased security for him. This is horrible stuff.

Wasn't he accused of wasting taxpayers money because of that?
H_B
I hadn't seen this before - comical stuff. His trial is set to take place two months after Dogan Arslan, 47, is to go on trial for allegedly staring at Nicola Sturgeon at her Pollokshaws Road office. Mr Arslan, from Battlefield, in Glasgow's south side, is alleged to have carried out the offence between October and December 2012, from his car. It is claimed he "engaged in course of conduct" which caused people in the office, including the Deputy First Minister, "fear and alarm" and that he "repeatedly loitered within a parked motor vehicle in the vicinity of the office premises" and stared at the offices and Ms Sturgeon. H_B
whataboutery from H_B, what a surprise. These aren't real death threats, in the same way the guy arrested for "threatening" to blow up Robin Hood airport wasn't real either. It's a total non-story. Ivo den Bieman
how do you know? do you know these people? if you can be arrested for breach of the peace / using threatening words and behaviour in real life, then why not from what is written on the internet? there should be no "it wiz awnly banter" defence for poorly socialised mumbleclowns on the internet. H_B
I remember some Falkirk local councillors engaged Inspector Knacker over "death threats" they'd had online, from the OneFInFalkirk site. This led to several members being contacted by the police. All a completely ridiculous overreaction to some obviously non-threatening posts. If someone actually wished to do harm to Alex Salmond, or any other prominent politician, I don't think they'd be doing it after announcing it on Twitter. Dipped Flake
Stupid people. Who gets so angry at someone's politics they actually threaten to kill them? Didn't that 'Scottish Nationalist Liberation Army' (the ones that were trying to form a Scottish nationalist IRA) group send a bullet to Alex Salmond a few years back? Seem to remember they sent one to my local MSP at the time as well. People take things too seriously. years ago I worked with a guy who, it turns out, was in the Scottish Republican Army (I think that's what they were called). They tried to blow up the Royal High School but forgot the bomb - he got years in the jail
