Stevo Fife
Ferguson was well past his sell by date 7 years ago and even then he was vastly overrated as a player. That said, I prefer to see guys like him coming through. Arseholes like Jeffries, Butcher, Clark etc have had their day on the management merry-go-round and need to f**k off and let the game breath. That'll be when he was captaining and scoring against Italy that was a bawhair from Scotland qualifying for a major international tournament? Sound mate. Thumper
In all fairness, fair play to him: he could almost certainly have gotten a job at a higher level purely on name recognition, but he's gone the route Hartley did and decided to prove to himself where his level is. A lot of the shitery in his past can be traced to the sense of self-entitlement that Rangers-that-was brought out in people, but they're dead now. As for being past it, I reckon he'll take the step up from the world's sixth-richest league to the Scottish Third Division well enough.
Mon_The_Fife
Quite a coup for Clyde to appoint someone with a fair bit of stature. However, managing in the Championship with good players on a daily basis is completely different to managing part time players twice a week. Something that Naysmith took a while adjusting too. It is refreshing to see new coaches given an opportunity to ply their trade instead of the old dinosaurs.
1320Lichtie
It is refreshing to see new coaches given an opportunity to ply their trade instead of the old dinosaurs. This. Said it in the Arbroath thread but if we were to get a dinosaur of a manager in again I'd be pissed off, seen some unreal football the last few years under Sheerin. Don't want someone ala Dick Campbell or something coming in. Sheerin/Hartley/Young/Naysmith/Ferguson etc are the way forward at this level. Dr Koop
Pretty box office appointment at Clyde. Should get them some extra publicity and maybe some more fans. Box office = endless meeja speculation as to when the Bazzmeister's getting his feet into Ally's slippers under the managerial desk south of the River Clyde? Dr Koop
No truth in the rumour Barry's gone to Clyde because it's the closest he'll get to involvement in a club that's beaten Celtic for a few years? Hmm?

lichtie23
Not seen any prices yet but are Clyde now favourites for the title after this appointment? As has been said before it's a "box office" appointment but anyone who seen Blackpool towards the end of the season will realise he isn't a very good manager

Bully Wee Villa
Not favourites. As for Blackpool, he was given the job of keeping them up, and did so. Not spectacular, but he'll already be a better manager now than he was when he set out.
