Heart of Midlothian 2014-

Got to be a 3 point deduction heading our way and 3-0 awarded to Cove. At any level of football that’s the penalty for fielding an ineligible player (1-0 at youths level). Unless somehow it’s the SFA’s online system that was at fault and we get away with the Rangers loophole of an “improperly registered” player

Establishment club must progress, understandable.

Now all we need to do is go out and score goals.

2  points is a bit strange no

Very. I’m wondering if there was a wee bit culpability on the SPFL’s part. If I was Inverness I would be pissed off.

Still, all we have to do now is hammer two lower league teams. What could go wrong ?

Thats the oddest bit about this situation.

They hit Hearts with a - frankly bizarre - 2 point penalty and a peanuts fine - but Cove get the square root of f**k all out of it  Seems really strange??

Looks like a fudge.

Giving Cove a 3-0 win would have made it hard for Hearts to qualify, even with wins v Cowden and ICT. They would have needed a lot of help in other groups, or for ICT to f**k up vs Raith.

Two points off is still a tough sanction in a four-game group, but Hearts will definitely qualify if they beat Cowden and ICT. Either as one of the four runners-up or possibly as group winners, although there isn't much difference because they 'll probably be unseeded in the last 16 either way.

Cue Edinburgh derby in the last 16.

When Dundee Utd were docked 3 points the actual result stood.

Dunno why they've come up with 2 points in fairness other than they have to keep the treble dream alive

As someone said in the League Cup thread, presumably this is so the game on Sunday isn't a dead rubber live on the telly.

It probably is that, but that shouldn't be their rationale for making such decisions.

Also, you're assuming we'll beat Cowdenbeath the morra.

And  we probably won't beat Raith.
