Big welcome to the Hibs, Hearts & Rangers to the Championship

Danny Wilson will not be leaving Hearts this transfer window.

Fair enough.

Until the season tickets are put on sale they won't be taking any risks. If our support respond well then the player budget will be decent l suspect.

Probably. But a strong enough team to challenge for the title?

I'd still fancy Rangers to challenge even if they're deducted 25 points. The classic inconsistency of the other teams in this league will come into play yet again.

If you seriously think a 25 point deduction will still enable them to compete with the second best team in Scotland, you are deluded.

They don't have many first team players at the moment and it seems Danny Wilson will be the next to leave. How are Hearts, realistically, going to finish ahead of Rangers when they've got rid of all their best players and will be replacing them with players on £500-£1000 a week?

Hibs are heavily downsizing too. And as the Hibs fan mentioned in the post above yours, they only have two players.

So not only will Hearts and Hibs have to build a team, it will be a team on much less wages. And because they'll have just built a team, it will take a season or so to adapt. Rangers had that very same situation in League 2 and dropped a heck of a lot of points as a result.

Who said we were downsizing? For us to build a team for next season, the players who weren't required had to be released first. If you seriously think (MacDonald aside) they were our best players then it's fairly obvious you've barely seen us play. Levein and Neilson seem to be saying that Wilson is staying. If he leaves it'll be because there's a release clause in his contract. I can't see the club selling otherwise.

There's no reason we should have a lower playing budget next year, although I think we can build a much better squad than we have currently with a similar budget.

So you mean next season's Championship will be like, er, any other season in the second tier?

Changing the actors doesn't change the overall story of two or three clubs fighting for the title, with it rarely being settled before mid-April (and normally later).

No, but sacking your gash actors and replacing them with some better, high profile ones may not change the story, but it will certainly improve the quality of the show, no?

Next year is going to be quite exciting from Hearts point of view (maybe Hibs as well) as for the first time in ages we will be in a competitive league we actually have some chance of winning.

It's too early for any team to be confident of winning IMO, the Hibs team that have come down are not going to be the same one that play in this league since they've sacked everyone and they do have the money to make a difference. Hearts likewise have lost a few players and might lose more so we can't be sure how we will look or how we will play under Neilson, especially with the pressure on.

The settled nature of existing championship teams will help them start the season running and. Hamilton have shown that many of them are perfectly capable of winning against SPL opposition. It really will be tough.

Dunno about Sevco, they played well against Dundee Utd but I think they had raised their game significantly and in many of the televised games they looked like they weren't interested and were awful, depends how much money they pish up the wall really, we know they don't like a challenge so it'll be interesting to see if they try the 'sledgehammer to crack a nut' approach again.

I reckon the fans will keep on rallying for the cause and we'll sell 10-12k season tickets for next season mate, which will give us probably the 3rd largest budget in the whole of Scotland, whether or not Ann Budge decides to spend it is another thing though as she already made it crystal clear that our survival and rebuilding is not based on going straight back up, and if it takes a few years to get stability then so be it, needs must in our case to ensure a future for the club and fans.

Unlikely to be deducted 25 points as it would be their first admin

Nope.

If you read the insolvency event rules, they've pretty much been written with Rangers /Sevco in mind. Almost certainly 25 points if /when they enter admin.

Just read them. You're right. Totally at odds with company law mind you. Problem would seem to lie with the rules' definition of a club. ie Club means a football club. Pretty nonsensical tbh

Coming from the club that sing 'hello hello' and have a Derry end? A bit ironic.

We've been down this road before. Remember when you got embarrassed and ran away? Nice try though.
