A testimonial match and dinner has been arranged for Ants Club Captain Ronnie McDonald on Sunday 25th May 2014. The Match will be between Ronnie's Ants Legends and a Celtic Legends team with players including Tom Boyd,Bobby Petta, Joe Miller, Rudi Vata and others. Kick Off for the game is at McKenna Park with a 3pm Kick Off and entry is £5 adults £2 OAP/Conc.

There will then be a Testimonial Dinner in St George's Parish Hall in Penilee with after dinner speaking from the immense John McKelvie, Tickets for this are £15 and include the 3 course meal (the club POTY Awards will be handed out at the dinner also)

Hopefully its a great day/night for a great guy who has shown loyalty to the club for the past 10 years despite interest from clubs in higher leagues and as is well documented not picked up a penny for his time with us.

Any interest in tickets for the dinner please either email me martin@theants.co.uk or PM myself or Cotter on here

a Celtic Legends team with....Bobby Petta

All the best with the testimonial I hope it goes well and it's good to see Celtic helping out the original team in hoops, but "Celtic legends" and Bobby Petta being in the same sentence is maybe an example of how the word legend is somewhat overused these days and has lost its original meaning. :)

If you look at it, Tom Boyd was captain when Celtic stopped Rangers 10 in a row, Joe Miller scored the winner in the 1989 Old Firm Cup Final, Bobby Petta won a treble with Celtic and scored against Ajax in the Champions League and Rudi Vata is......well, Rudi Vata!!!

Good stuff cotter, respect to the guy, deserves his big day against the big hoops.

Btw Bobby petta is never a legend just lucky enough to play in a fantastic Celtic team but hey it's used loosely in this instance so shouldn't be picky.

Didn't know rudi vata was still in Scotland! Thought he would of went home long ago, then again he is from Albania, a place that makes govan look like Beverly Hills.

Well done to ronnie for being so loyal to the 1 club, especially as he would have had plenty of offers over the years as he is a top player and a nice boy aswell. Also well done to the ants gor setting this all up for him and letting him keep all the proceeds for the dinner and match, that might just about make up for all signing on fees hes never had hahaha ????

Would it be ok to ask on this thread when the ants are doing trials this summer? My mate at work knows a lad who has apparently signed for the ants and he said to my mate get along to a trial. Told him great club but manager is a nutter in a nice way though.
