That would be an all time f**k up to put a clause in the deal like that considering he'd already signed a pre-contract. He's scored something like 40 goals in just over 13 months. That's pretty remarkable. And it's not just his goalscoring....his link up play and general all-round game has come on hugely and is being acknowledged by those in the game. I think £3.5-5m would be more fair (I’d obviously like more but English clubs won’t/will rarely pay that for a non-OF* player in Scotland). Dealing with Aberdeen or any of The Rest they have the equally erroneous mentality they are dealing with cottage industry clubs. Aberdeen can hold out for whatever they want, they won't get it. Obviously I’m not saying Cosgrove is going on to be as good as them but I feel his impact in Scotland isn’t much different to what those players did before heading down south.
