Just like lots of people have to do when the SFA decide to have evening mid-week kick-offs for the qualifiers. How about you think outside of your central belt public transport utopia. Not everyone lives in the M8 corridor or a short Scotrail journey away from Glasgow.

The SFA don't decide when the qualifiers are, FIFA or UEFA do. Also a relocation to the Stirling area doesn't really solve your problem anyway regarding midweek kick offs, it just makes having places to go pre kick off a problem for an increased number of people.

Folk could go to pubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee etc, then get a 20 minute train to the stadium (in, for example, the Stirling area). No different to the current scenario of people going to Glasgow pubs then training it out to the south side.

It would have to be special trains put on as trains to Stirling go to the likes of Croy, Larbert etc first, and the quickest train there is about 35 minutes. Then you have to add in the factor of where in Stirling is the ground being built. How far from the station? There is no where really walking distance from the train station a 50,000 + seated stadium could go.

That would be great if trains from Edinburgh and Dundee to Stirling only took 20 mins.

A train from central to Mount Florida takes 10 minutes, as does a train to Kings Park. You've also the option of several buses, taxis or even walking from the center of town as it's really not that far. Pubs in the south side would also be an option as there are plenty.

You woul ent be in Perth in 20 minutes from Dundee station.

What I don't get is why it is beyond the wit of scotrqil to put on special non stop trains on match day. From central to mount Florida. I have been to Wembley 5 times and have never waited more than 15 minutes to get on the train after the game on a non stop service down to kings cross.

Fair dos re an extra 15 mins or so.

Re stadium location, see earlier in this thread for all the kerfuffle, argument and counter-argument over where near Stirling, dedicated rail links and the mid 90s baw hair we were away from having a custom built new stadium at Brucefields golf course.

It's difficult for scottish people to comprehend due to our abysmally disjointed antiquated public transport system but a station could be built at a new stadium .

Wow a whole 35 mins....

How many trains can they shift from a small Glasgow Queen street station on a math day for a train journey that is 35 mins+ with the possibility of 15,000+ punters trying to travel on the same train to get there? Especially on a week night when there is no doubt many workers on these rail links trying to get home

Shall have a look, not that big a city centre, so could only imagine a ground being out in the middle of no where like Forthbank.

For a city small as Stirling, there is no need for 2 main train stations, especially when one would be predominantly used once in a blue moon.

Their was talk of having Bannockburn getting a train station again, which would have solved the problem for the alleged site atStirling as its pretty much in Bannockburn

The length of the journey is not the issue, it doesn't matter if the journey takes 10 mins or 35 mins. Capacity is completely different to journey times and is a consequence of the number of trains that can run and the number of passengers that they can take. There is no reason that a new stadium could not be built with multiple rail links that allow for North, South, East and West journeys to be made direct to the Stadium.

The cost involved would stop that! Multiple rail links to a football stadium from all parts of the country? Glasgow can't get a direct rail link set up to it's airport! It would cost hundreds of millions for such a scheme. Then there's whatever the stadium would cost on top of that.

Would probably make more sense, however having a stadium that size next to a town with the population of just over 7,000 people would be ridiculous

The length of the journey can be an issue. Central to Mount Florida is only 5 minutes so regular trains can go from Glasgow to there as well as extra trains being put on. The train service is helped with there also being bus links and cheap taxis. How many trains an hour could get as many people travelling from Glasgow to Stirling at a peak time in time for kick off, bearing in mind there is only 1 City Link bus that goes from Glasgow to Stirling every hour, and only holds 50 people.

Also as Northsea80 says, the cost involved to fund such a project would be substantially too high.

Its not really a town anymore as such, more an extension of Stirling or a suburb if you wish. the idea of a train station was to serve Bannockburn and about a half dozen areas/villages as well.

We could build a hover stadium and fly it around the country for that kind of money.
