David W
Similar to Sporting/Udinese. It does kind of work but it's a bit tinpot.

Apparently it's meant to make the stadium look fuller when not at capacity. Should certainly be interesting, it's not gone down well with the fans. 1 hour ago, David W said: Similar to Sporting/Udinese. It does kind of work but it's a bit tinpot. Why don’t they just do what St. Johnstone done years ago and have giant cardboard cut outs of fans behind the goal?

I have no idea why it needs “upgraded” at all, it’s already immense. Probably just some sort of cock waving competition because Barca are planning on doing up the Nou Camp.

jamamafegan
Spurs stadium nearly there. Look closely and you’ll see the safe standing seats. Safe standing also in the away end. Spurs have installed it with the foresight that the laws will be changed, very wise move. What a ground it’s going to be.

I take it that the seats will be locked in place until the law changes meaning that fans will just stand in front of the seat as they do now as it'll be illegal to have the 'safe standing' activated. Yep, that makes total sense...

Only mugs think it's anything other than a different seat design. Probably romanticised by people who have never stood on terracing in their life. However, good luck to the stadium companies that are able to flog it to them.

In regards to...? The need for 'safe standing'. Just have terracing. They're perfectly fine and only unsafe if you breach the capacity and have shite design that isn't maintained. If you tried to force 5000 folk in to a stand that held only 2000 you'd have serious problems. 1 minute ago, Patrick Bateman said: Why is standing 'unsafe'? Never understood the term 'safe standing'. Exactly this. The whole thing is a con. Hundreds of thousands of people stand on terracing each week without incident.
topcat(The most tip top)
In regards to...?I think it must be the implication that previous versions were “unsafe standing” that must be irritating himPossibly there would be less annoyance if they called it “Safer Standing” or “Standing but with the, admittedly, very low previous risk factor minimised a bit further” (or SBEAVLPRFMABF as the cool kids would no doubt call it)
DA Baracus
Actually it's probably unsafer standing given you'd be stuck in a wee spot and only able to move to either side.
Bairnardo
Everrthing about safe standing is framed in relation to the EPL. No surprise that they have to do something about the "optics" of it given that the entire league is built.on appearances.
