charger29 Posted April 30, 2023 Share Posted April 30, 2023 Kept seeing the show Jury Duty (Amazon) advertised everywhere so gave it a watch. It was ok. Could have been much better. 5/10. It's a mockumentary which follows a jury during a fake trial in America. Everyone involved is an actor apart from one member of the jury who thinks he's participating is some kind of 'behind the curtains' show where TV cameras can follow a jury through an entire trial. They put that guy in more and more daft situations and see how he reacts. There was potential for a better show here if the comedy was more subtle and they actually made a believable trial. Instead the comedy was ott and the trial itself was poorly done. The background to how they all ended up on the jury doesn't quite add up either. The non actor saw an ad looking for jury members for a tv show and applied. When he gets there, and they begin selecting the 12 jurors, a bunch of people including a famous actor (James Marsden) are trying to get excused. Why would this happen if they applied to be on the show? AND why would a famous actor apply to be on a minor tv show and then try to be excused. I'm enjoying this too despite frustration at the apparent lack of any competent policing procedure. They had a partial registration number for the suspect van after 10 mins of episode 1 but it wasn't until episode 4 that they did anything about it. Also, they were very interested in whether the missing girl or her mother had a boyfriend but excluded the older sister from that line of investigation.
