Is an oldie an option/appeal?

We adopted my first dog from the dogs trust when I lived in a flat with no attached garden. She was 12yo when we adopted her and sadly we only had her for two years but she was a brilliant dog, came fully trained and was very laid back. We lived across the road from a park so we just took her across the road for a wee potter around in the mornings and evenings and she got her big walk (2 miles) in the evening.

To be honest I’d happily go for a rescue dog, but I do want a bigger breed so had always thought a flat ruled it out. However that dog in your picture is a belter that I’d happily take in so maybe not.

COVID has robbed Renton of his beloved girl that would take him out for walks etc (she's not dead, just couldn't get back to Edinburgh). If you want to borrow him any time you'd be welcome. A hound-type in a flat is fine as they are so lazy.

I thought you’d moved out to the wilderness of Fife?

Not yet. Still have a painting/odd job/furniture building marathon. He’ll still come to work with me most days anyway.

I'd say she was about golden retriever size but she used to just lay about and sleep. Her favourite place was at the bottom of the stairs so we'd frequently find her under a pile of junk mail because she rarely moved if the postman came.

The Glasgow Dogs Trust were very good. We got her on some sort of foster arrangement so all her vet bills were paid by them for the whole time we had her. Think it was something to do with her being too old to insure. She was a great dog, very clever and someone had gone to great lengths to train her well. I say she was lazy but she was always up for a longer walk or an adventure.

The urge to get a dog is becoming increasingly difficult. Thinking about getting a dog several times a day. This thread doesn’t help with it either.

Unfortunately just don’t think it’s fair getting a dog in a small flat with no garden, so will have to continue on in great sadness at not having a pal.

Get yourself a Greyhound, they'll take over all soft furnishings, in fact you'll probably end up buying the mutt a sofa of their own.

So, we've had her for about 6 weeks now. c.15 weeks old. An absolute dote. Developing good weighs about 7.5kg.
She actually toilet trained in about a day!! And can be let off leads during safe walks etc, away from Roads....
Like any puppy she likes to steal socks etc and being chased. Great decision!!

One or both of ours decided to shred a dog bed while we were at work the other day so this is Skye's best "Everything's fine here" face.

She was obviously worried that Morse was going to crack under interrogation. Probably a fair bet tbf.

Took Rosie the dog up Ben Lomond yesterday, her first proper Munro. She had a fucking great time

If anyone can tell me what is going on here though it’d be appreciated?

Is she a cross breed or just cocker?

Just a working cocker, quite small for the breed generally (in laws have working cockers too and they’re / were much bigger), but still has the “lightning quick, never tires” attributes in abundance.

Strange, as that’s a look that says “you’re not wanting me to walk up that f***ing thing are you?!”
