Few months on so a little progress update. After gently removing the last of his scabs (they were basically hanging off so seemed more stuck to his fur than the actual skin) Bruce has more or less fully healed. Still strange to look at but what an enormous difference from the look of the fresh wound after his operation with his fur all grown back too. Most of them don't say anything as such, just give the dog a sort of glance as to say "oh, you're different". The ones that do say anything just say hello to him really.
