ICTChris
It's great news for independence supporters if the zoomer-fests that are Tommy Sheridan's rallies fizzle out. Although I fancy going to a few just to see the nick of the headcases that attend. Does he have anything lined up in Edinburgh in the immediate future? -
Mr Rational
Not as far as I'm aware. I accidentally attended one in Glasgow a while back. Ted Christopher was playing and my cousin wanted me to chum her along, I didn't know he was speaking at it in my defence. Ted was his normal sing along self which was great (I had been in the pub), Tommy was shouty and full of the usual 'we will make Westminster bow to our designs' stuff. He never explained how he was going to do it which put a rather large hole in his argument. It was a couple of hours I won't get back....
Colkitto
I plan to go to the Rally in Glasgow on 19th September. Whether you're a fan of Sheridan or not it would be good to show support for the independence movement one year on from the vote
Mr Rational
Nah, I wouldn't give the orange one the time of day. As for a rally on the 19th? Worst thing imaginable. I'm friendly with a few SSP in real life, you should hear what they have to say about Tommy. Then again, a few folk I know including my cousin thinks the guy walks on water. He once shook my hand, I washed it afterwards, then counted my fingers....
Fudge
Would it be fair to say the vast majority of SSP supporters aren't angry at people being poor, they're angry at being poor themselves. Mr Rational
I've found them to be well meaning folk and if we lived in a utopian paradise they would be spot on, but back in the real world, completely clueless to the realities of how the world actually works. I speak to the SSP candidate who stood against Murphy and shared the platform with Ad-lib every so often. We actually share a very similar background and I get what she is trying to achieve. I also know the guy who's going up for them in the list for the Lothians, he's actually pretty sound and his heart is in the right place. He's getting my list vote.
ICTChris
Most of the Trots when I was at University were pretty well off. I'm sure Nick Cohen (Observer journalist) told a story once where he gave a talk at Eton College and when he attacked the Socialist Workers Party in part of his presentation, a pupil shouted "You can't say that, my father's a member!" I plan to go to the Rally in Glasgow on 19th September. Whether you're a fan of Sheridan or not it would be good to show support for the independence movement one year on from the vote I think you are right, these rallies show support for the movement - I very much doubt that rallies change people's minds or win new voters, they are more about energising the base. I suppose they could create a momentum for the movement, although I think that's unlikely.

Fide
Speaking about foodbanks, its disgracefull that the snp are exploiting them for their own ends, advertising food collections and at the same time campaigning for votes, sad state of affairs. f**k off Kev. There's a good lad.

I think it would be great if Labour party members started collecting food for food banks instead of spending all their time greeting about the SNP and the ungrateful electorate.

It's something I always found strange, that most people from the far left I know are some of the most middle class people I know.
