I'd be ok with paying a little extra for council tax or it's equivalent tbh. I've been in Glasgow for 4 or 5 years now and I'd have expected that to have increased. TBH my household earns more than enough to pay extra - I have absolutely no idea why households over a certain amount haven't seen increases over the last few years.

Because then the government wouldn't be able to say it had frozen council tax. It'd have to qualify it. Not sure there's any more to it than that. They could raise band G by four pence and every paper in the country except the National would run it on the front page for a month.

Like the polls that had Yes in the lead it's all pretty meaningless until an actual IndyRef2 campaign starts.

We'll see then how soft or hard that No vote is.

When you factor in 2014’s opinion polling being generous compared to the actual result, and most undecideds voting No, the actual gap is probably about 15%

It’s always odd to hear separatists decrying separation as a bad thing, when they spent years up until 2016 and since telling us how important sovereignty and independence were.

I would say the opposite. Separatism gives us an opportunity to re enter the Eurozone. As part of the UK, that is not an option.

It’s not odd at all.

The UK is one country whereas the EU is made up of complete different countries with separate languages, customs, history and traditions.

Completely different set of circumstances.

Even if we were to accept that the UK is made up of 4 countries, they all have so much in common regarding language, history and tradition.

The only reason Guess make up ground during the campaign was that people hadn’t properly thought about the issue before.

Now, thanks to constant Nat agitation, it’s never been out of the public consciousness.

Pish. Your argument is for more and deeper EU integration, if you’re claiming that’s what works - not the isolationist separation you advocate. Alternatively, you’re arguing for the UK to become the 51st state, given its shared language, history, and traditions with the USA.

Austerity is a Tory policy, one we've been suffering under for quite some time now.

Why would an SNP led government do that to its population when it can, as an independent country, increase borrowing and run a deficit to fund public services? There is also the control of defence spending that will allow re-allocation of funds to other areas of the economy as we no longer have to support spending on trident and much of the navy and air force.

Joining the EU will lead to increases in trade and funding for areas in Scotland.

No longer having to pay for the bloated House of Lords.  A welcome saving.

Never understood why austerity would suddenly become SNP/Green policy, they're not in favour of that shite. Never have been. Tory policies are not popular up here.

I have far more in common with liberal minded socialists in Italy, France or Poland than I have with you. Scotland hasn't voted Tory since the 1950s, yet we keep being governed by them because the English electorate is alien to our way of thinking. On average, of course.
