orlandoblue Posted November 29, 2013 Share Posted November 29, 2013 Good to see some newspaper are waking up to the fact unionist really have nothing to offer http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/scotland/10481280/Scotland-The-case-for-the-Union-is-still-strong-so-why-not-make-it.html Although that very article seems to suggest that is likely that Spain will veto Scotland's entrance to the EU. Is that part wrong ? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

She used to do these debates every year and every year was pointed and laughed at by pupils and teachers alike. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
~~~ Posted November 29, 2013 Share Posted November 29, 2013 Spain will veto Scotland's entrance to the EU. Is that part wrong ? Here was my thinking we are already in the EU Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
AUFC90 Posted November 29, 2013 Share Posted November 29, 2013 Although that very article seems to suggest that is likely that Spain will veto Scotland's entrance to the EU. Is that part wrong ? I very much doubt we will not be allowed in. Especially when you look at countries such as Greece, Bulgaria and Spain coincidentally. We would be Europes largest oil producer with a strong economy compared to others. Why would Germany , the economic powerhouse of Europe, not want a country like Scotland who would contribute greatly in Europe over a a financially crippled country like Greece or Spain? The EU would welcome any economically sound nation from North western Europe. Sure we would have to negotiate but it's ridiculous to think we wouldn't get in. Jamaldo Posted November 29, 2013 Share Posted November 29, 2013 Can't believe Reynard is still posting his nonsense on this topic. I think the vast majority of people on here stopped caring about what some shitey Duran Duran tribute act thought about Scottish independence a long time ago, if they ever did. They probably care more about their principle that breakaway movements are a bad thing than about fishing. Besides, it's not like Scotland could stop them fishing here Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jamaldo Posted November 29, 2013 Share Posted November 29, 2013 As the Spanish Government intend to block a Catalan referendum, surely that doesn't then go in line with their supposed worry about setting a precedent by saying "no problem" to our EU membership? If they're going to block a referendum it's completely irrelevant. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
orlandoblue Posted November 29, 2013 Share Posted November 29, 2013 Very. Spain's foreign minister is on the record saying that they wouldn't block Scotland's entry to the EU.Fair enough but the article was posted stating that it was a good thing that the paper has recognised that the unionists have nothing to offer. So within that one article it is spot on re the unionists being keech but it is completely wrong on its assertion re Spain and their veto ?
