A bunch of nerdy twenty somethings taking drugs and having sex with each other is probably the least weird bit of the story

People giving a load of weird drug addled nerds living in a polycule their life savings to 'invest' is the strange part.

'Effective Altruism' is the belief system of SBF and his friends. It's promoted to  young people at elite schools and universities by Bill Gates and basically amounts to the idea that the most intelligent people in society making decisions about how to allocate resources is the best outcome for everyone. I can't remember exactly when but there was an episode of TrueAnon podcast where a guest said that Epstein was very interested in creating a science based ideology and that his dealings with Gates, Stephen Pinker and people at MIT were centred on that. Epstein himself was 'discovered' at a school for gifted children by ex CIA officer William Barr who's son Bill was Trump's Attorney General.

The co-ed frat house that SBF lived in clearly uses cult brainwashing methods to indoctrinate young adults into Effective Altruism. There is no way these freaks managed to go from a start up to links to drug cartels, financing political networks and money laundering for Ukraine within 3 years.

There's some pretty dramatic logical leaps there

'Effective Altruism' and 'Transhumanism' are elite ideologies. It's not difficult to find out where they originated or what they comprise. They are this century's version of Eugenics.

People like Gates and Peter Thiel require a constant supply of young people to operate the hi tech control systems they are building and they need to begin to indoctrinate them at as early an age as possible. Intelligent young people who grow up normally are unlikely to make the choices SBF has.

The ruling class using schools, universities, fraternities and secret societies to reproduce itself isn't anything new. This is just the first time we are seeing it with the current Tech oligarchy.

Quote

Effective altruism (EA) is a philosophical and social movement that advocates "using evidence and reason to figure out how to benefit others as much as possible, and taking action on that basis".[1][2] People who pursue the goals of effective altruism are labeled effective altruists.[3]

Common practices of effective altruists include choosing careers based on the amount of good that the career achieves, donating to charities based on maximising impact, and earning to give. Popular cause priorities within EA include global health and development, animal welfare, and risks to the survival of humanity over the long-term future.

A critique of "Effective Altruism" in an opinion piece from yesterday's FT
https://www.ft.com/content/91c88d7c-b856-402a-ba0a-519b0e8825ff

The utilitarian idea that we should distribute resources where they'll actually do most good is reasonable enough in general but the practicalities of how that "good" is objectively measured have been a problem with utilitarianism since the days of Mill and  Hume. This isn't a new thing

Altruism, whether attempted in a vaguely scientific manner or not, carries various other ethical quandaries

Does Andrew Carnegie using his money to build libraries and concert halls all over the world cancel out the ruthless way he dealt with labour disputes to make that money.

Should Bill Gates have just handed money to African Governments in the hope that they'd deal with malaria? Either way does any of this make up for that bloody animated paper clip.

Was there really nothing better for Pope Sixtus IV to do with all that excess money than build the Sistine chapel?

If someone dodges millions in tax and then spends that money on good causes are they a bad person for not trusting central government to choose how to allocate that money? Or a good person for spending it on good things? Does it depend on the causes , the person, the government?

Even for those of us who aren't ridiculously wealthy there are issues to address like the advice that "You shouldn't give beggars money because they'll spend it on drink and drugs"

Your answers to these questions, and the certainty you attach to your answers, will say as much about you as about these questions

I partially agree with this paragraph. It is unreal how quickly this 'empire' came into existence. FTX didn't even exist last crypto cycle then all of a sudden it is everywhere with Stadium deals and the like.

There was no doubt some powerful people behind FTX to give it that turbo boost..... Or does psychopathic lying combined with the top of the 'everything bubble' lead to such a big scam?

It does seem very fast but these things can grow spectacularly fast that's kind of the point of them and conspicuous expenditure on things like naming stadia is all part of how they work. You've got to be seen to be successful to get people to buy into that success

Charles Ponzi's scheme is an archetypical example and it only lasted half a year, and he was doing it by mail!

That's not to say that there aren't any hidden powers behind all this  just that there aren't necessarily any hidden powers behind all this.

I know a few EA people. They're all very nice, very smart, have good motives, and are all shagging each other. They've got little clandestine groups within the civil service and other orgs which they use to help to try to achieve their aims.

It definitely has parallels to Freemasonry.

Hopefully the Enlightenment, rationalist, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giuseppe Garibaldi, Benjamin Franklin version as opposed to the incompetent modern version that's been making such a terrible job of stopping Celtic winning anything
