ArtemisClydeFrog
Over the season, aye. Look at Celtic, all of their current or recent 'big players' have either been playing in the Championship or unable to get a game in the EPL before. Commons from Derby, Wilson from Forest, Hooper from Scunthorpe, Stokes couldnt get a place at Sunderland, Samaras couldnt get a place at City ( when they were honking ) Forster at Newcastle ( he has come on leaps and bounds to be fair ) Ledley from Cardiff, could go on all day, Celtic have the equivalent of a decent Championship squad, which would be in around promotion or the play offs over the course of a season IMHO. Money talks, just because Celtic raise their game every so often in the big Champions League games doesnt make them any better. And as for the other SPL teams, League 1 at best. Why does it matter where the player is taken from? Generally the Championship players we sign are either the best or amongst the best players at their clubs. The hardon some Scots have for the football leagues down south is beyond me. The Championship is a competitive league, but the standard of football isn't especially high on a technical level. That's not to say the SPL is either, but Celtic have played relatively well in Europe since the Sion debacle and have regularly competed against sides of an infinitely higher quality than that found in the Championship. Gordopolis
a Tonka toy tank? 5 feet 10 inches isn't towering, but it's hardly short-arse material either. One of his distinguishing features is that he's bull-shouldered and very strong on the ball, that's what the poster who called him 'big Stevie May' was meaning* and you know it. *unless, maybe, the poster has come sordid personal relationship with the player? mizfit
With regards to May he has stated he's desperate to prove himself to starch an, and his record this season is much the same as Griffith's was at this stage last season. Probably worth a place on the bench in the friendlys, keep him in the u-21's for now.

2426255
Not really supporting a Johnny Russell recall, but... Sporting Kansas City don't play between October 3rd and October 20th. Superficially seems to be doing reasonably well over there of late. He has been in Steve Clarke squads previously prior to Coronavirus. With Stuart Armstrong and James Forrest likely to be out we will probably have space in our squad for attacking players. What are the chances? is it a step in the wrong direction given he is 31? or could he be a useful man to help us get past the Faroe Islands if we are struggling to score? Does everyone just want Ryan Gauld instead? Edited September 23, 2021 by 2426255 -
eez-eh
Not entirely against the idea seeing as our options out wide are somewhat pish. -
accies1874
We need another forward player in this squad and while I don't really fancy it being Russell, I'm not sure who I would like.
Donathan
What about Ross Stewart?
craigkillie
I'd rather have Scott Wright than Johnny Russell. Russell has never been good enough at any point in his career so why pick him now?Even if you told me we had to pick an MLS player, he'd be third choice.
The Moonster
Ryan Gauld appears to be playing as the right sided forward in a 3-4-3 formation not too dissimilar to the formation Clarke likes to play, I'd suggest he's the better option.
Jimi Shandrix
Didn't even have to look to see who'd red dotted those earlier posts. But I did and I was not disappointed.
2426255
Scored his fourth goal in five games last night although the keeper should have saved it. His last game for Sporting Kansas is October 3rd and he doesn't have a game until October 18th, meanwhile Scotland have space in the squad and are a little short on strikers/attacking midfielders and have games on October the 9th and October the 12th. It would be pretty straightforward on the surface to recall this guy and he was only dropped as a result of the Covid19 situation initially. Whether we should be recalling him is another question, I could see it happening. Edited September 27, 2021 by 2426255
ArabFC
He's captain of the team in 3rd spot in the MLS and has scored 4 and assisted 2 in his last five games. I don't think he'll get called up, but not the worst option. Though he and Gauld could get a flight over together
