How can you win in Croatia then turn out this result? First half we'd control of the game and forced a few good saves from their 'keeper... but we were hardly cruising along, and the pace of play was far from full-tempo and frustratingly one-dimensional (had they decided to forego the wings as a test?). Expected a reaction for second half but we went backward - Lithuania had much more of the ball. Hornby was terrible after 1hr. "Blunt weapons" etc. I know it's easy to caricature Gemmell's demeanour but in the flesh he really did look to all intents lost, impassive and bewildered. It's a shame we hadn't witnessed how Gemmill sets up youth sides before to see how he'll help set up youth teams. That Toulon Tournament under Gemmill was embarrassing, just hoof after hoof to Burke. Sounds like all we've down is translate that to the hoof after hoof to Hornby.
