The average miles on a 16 plate car will be about 60k so not the end of the world,as long as it has a FSH

Wife’s Tucson is a 65 plate. 24k on clock!

Anyone had any experience with the Skoda Scala? Looks a decent price.

Don’t know the motor but, nowadays, anything with a Skoda badge is worth a look.

Tried to get a regas on my aircon earlier, turns out that due to a Groupon offer, garage I went to is fully booked every hour until the middle of August!!

Looking at getting an estate for practicality and economy. Downsizing from an L200 which is costing me a ton on everything...

What are the general opinions on buying from folk like Arnold Clark and Peter Vardy etc? Looking at 2015/16/17 age models with as low a mileage i can get. Something like an Octavia or Insignia etc.

I always go to Arnold Clark, never had an issue.

Heard some absolutely horror stories but its usually servicing or repairs where I've heard It all goes wrong rather than buying tbf

Yeah its good at the moment which is whats prompted my search! I seen a 2 litre Passat 16 plate for £9 grand. Had done about 70k miles though, seemed alot to me but I'm guessing it was a company car / rep car etc.

There's a nice on at maklin motors in paisley at moment.

Bought a car last year ....two £1000+ issues in first 9 months, turned out ex taxi which had had two drivers and likely been clocked and milage double what was on it. Had to bin it, when second fault became apparent, £4500 hp left to pay.

Wouldn't touch a car from there again.

Just when I was thinking about buying a new car...

To be fair I had to sink £1200 into the truck to keep it on the road two years ago, needed new leaf springs and all that guff, brake pipes were corroded and some shock absorbers were goosed too. Hence why im getting rid and trying to avoid that kind of shite these days!

Don't buy an Insignia. The amount of people I get looking for a clutch and flywheel for them on cars which aren't high mileage is scary.

It's a lovely car but a tad impractical with the kids so it's all yours!

Even then, I've used then for servicing for most of the last decade and never had a problem with them.

Some garages are probably better than others.

I've had a mondeo, a Granada Scorpio (many moons ago), and escort and id say they've been the most reliable cars I've had other than my Opel Astra which was a great car too.

Guess its just the luck of the draw...sigh.

Yup that one. I think I was very unlucky. It, much like me, was a great ride.
