For the difference you get from trading in to selling its worth the little bit of hassle.

I am just a lazy bugger though and like the idea of driving to the garage in my old car, and leaving with my new one. Also, if your car is on finance the garage will settle that all for you.

I bought it for £5k in January (was a stop gap) and Evans Halshaw are trying to punt it for £6700! That's how it works unfortunately. I traded my first car into Peter Vardy and got £600 for it. A week later it was on Auto Trader for £1600. I know that, was more a comment on how nuts the second hand market is.

killiepiemuncher
I’ve always found cars around £1000 are easily sold on gumtree. Put an ad in and priced correctly your phone will ring off the hook.
just me 2
Is it a hassle to sell a car through gumtree/auto trader? I mentioned it to my wife and she’s says if I want to do that I’ve to do it. What do you need to do DVLA wise?
just me 2
Prices just now are crazy,i bought a 19 plate Mokka X 1.6CDTI from Evans Halshaw for £10767 in May and had a hassle free deal.Mind you i had no trade in and was paying cash so no haggling. How is the Mokka? WeAreElgin
Why do people trade cars in as opposed to privately selling them?Convenience and the ability to palm off complete shite guilt-free. Not sure I have the nerve to sell something to someone knowing it was fucked, car dealerships on the other hand? f**k them.

Haven't a clue where mine is since everything else has gone digital.

It is an excellent car,the 1.6CDTI engine is great on fuel but also very nippy.Although i have already sold it was we have sold our caravan and didn't need a 2nd car. Made £1100 profit on it.
Zetterlund
I just sold my old motor on Gumtree a couple of weeks ago. The buyer did the change of ownership online and I got an email within a few minutes to confirm before he left with it. No need to send off the paper V5 afterwards.

Because it is a lot easier than dealing with the shower of twats that seem to frequent ebay, auto trader and gumtree these days. Life is far to short to be dealing with the twats offering half the asking price or a swap with a PS5 and a shoddy Corsa.
alta-pete
Agreed. Car dealers are, to my mind, wry definitely OsFTW but f**k doing their job dealing with the general public (lying whiny b*****ds) on a daily basis while still trying to run a business and make a profit somewhere along the way.

welshbairn
Is the bottom of the badge hanging in the air? If so it's going to make it very tempting for some drunken ne're-do-well or child to try and peel it off.
