sonsism
Regardless what their reasons are for bringing Palpatine back I’m glad it’s happening. He’s the big bad of the first 6 episodes. Having him come back in 9 to finish things off (and potentially reveal he was doing things behind the scenes in 7 & 8 should make the entire saga feel more connected rather than 3 sets of 3 movies. That’s as long as they do a good job of bringing him back. After the Kenobi announcement, Mandalorian trailer and this new Skywalker trailer I’m hyped as f**k for it again. I loved TLJ but can understand some of the complaints with it. Growing up on the prequels I’m fortunate enough to always see the good in Star Wars and just laugh at the bad.
KnightswoodBear
I loved TLJ, Mary Poppins Leia and the sub-prequel standard half hour on the casino planet aside.
Mark Connolly
Caught a little bit of Attack of the Clones on Sky yesterday. Tommy Wiseau would have been better than Hayden Christiansen

The correct answer. In a world where Disney are taking less and less risks with the live action remakes & pretty much any Marvel movie that isn't a crossover, I'd much rather they still tried taking risks rather than play it safe 7/10 beigeness. I'm mixed about Obi Wan coming back. His little cameo in Rebels was top notch, probably all the lip service I needed and I feel that this new series could diminish it. 54_and_counting
I have a weird feeling that kylo will be the one who turns at the end, the name of the film is too easy to hint at rey, i think kylo, having killed his dad etc, will adopt his mothers real name by the end of it and become a jedi instead of a sith seeing as he is neither at the moment The whole rey turning to the dark side will be a vision or something from him, something daft and a complete red herring

If it's not, it's a bit like putting "No, I am your father" into a trailer for the Empire Strikes Back.

Mark Connolly
I thought the trailer was a bit underwhelming, but I'm actually a fan of that because the last few films haven't really lived up to the trailer. Hopefully this is a reverse of that situation.

LongTimeLurker
The sequel trilogy is like Godfather 3. Quite entertaining in places with some great acting performances (as well as some that are mailed in), but all too obviously being done for the money rather than to genuinely complete a materpiece. Whatever happens I hope it leaves all the absurd fanboys who didn't like the attempt to make The Last Jedi somewhat novel and interesting highly distraught. Something like Poe assuming Tyrion's role in GoT in a big meeting at the end after Rey has been offed by Finn saying "who has a more interesting story than Rose Tico"...

Hayden Christiansen playing a Richard Dawkins-type character who confirms the Force is a pile of pish.
dorlomin
Rumour has it that Rise of Skywalker is still shooting principle i.e. live actors and has not yet finalised the ending. The Disney Wars films do not only have to make more money than they cost to produce and market but also recoup the $4 billion Disney paid for them. Since Solo flopped the second tier films are on hold (Rogue One, Solo,.....). Now Rise of Skywalker has to make a boat load of money, re-ignite passion from the fan base for the second tier films and also create an apatite for the next trilogy from Bennioff and Weiss. That $4 billion is the weight sinking any creativity in the franchise.
DA Baracus
Nearly all films are required by studios to make back what they cost and then some. Also given it comes out in a month and a half I very doubt that principal shooting hasn't finished. I would get if there some reshoots required and that was happening but I can't see them not having the principal shooting done. Think that's nonsense. Of course Disney want it to make billions and it probably will. Remains to be seen if they have fucked it, but I think if it plays it safe then that's more to do with the backlash from The Last Jedi, which was very different but received poorly from loads of folk. I suppose that ties in with not making as much profit but sadly there isn't anything we can do about it.

After principal most of the work is "post production", that is modern special effects or may be "pick up" small amounts of work to tidy up nearly finished work https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pick-up_(filmmaking) Justice League was famously undergoing principle photography reshoots with 2 months of release and the post production did not pick up many errors and blemishes. Its rumours in the industry. Your mileage may vary.

Star Wars movies tend to be solid and fairly smooth processes.

Meaning 80% are fine, meaning my statement that they 'tend to be' is fine.
