Never seen one in the flesh until today when I happened to be walking up through the Meadows just as it was about to start. An utterly miserable experience. Half of the west coast must've been there, I heard very few east coast accents.

Although the "Black Skull Corp" would be a brilliant name for a Metal band

"Purple Heroes" on the other hand sounds more than a bit gay

Oliver Cromwell did a shitload of bad things in Scotland and, especially, in Catholic Ireland, did he not ?

He was also a republican.

I suppose for some, their hatred of catholics outweighs their love of the monarchy.

Oddly enough 'Black Skull' - despite the name - is the most melodic 'floot bon' in Scotland.  A bit snobby, too.

File under too much information but I know a guy that is in The Black Skull. Growing up a Thistle fan he was an anarchist punk but got badly beaten by Celtic supporters as he had gone to the 'wrong' high school and he turned to the dark side.

Sounds like a bit of a fairy tale.  Glasgow is blessed with many 'blood and thunder' bands who'd accommodate him.  Black Skull?  Not so much.

I'm neither an Orangeman nor a monarchist but it's lovely to see the lads and lassies in loyal orders celebrating our queen's jubilee - by walking down E'burgh's High Street.  The heart of Reformation Scotland.

Said nae c**t ever

Wonder if the Greenock one's chucked it. I don't see them on the list and they haven't dawdled by my house in ages. There was only about a dozen or so marching and 1/2 dozen hangers on last time I seen them so probably sacked it off as they weren't big enough to annoy folk and block up the roads.

36 Orange lodge bands

I know you like to be right about this so I'm posting just for you.

There is no such thing as an, "Orange Lodge Band".

Flute bands are entirely independent of any of Scotland's loyal orders.

I am sure that these "entirely independent bands" have nothing at all to do with the Orange Lodges in the places named above, have never set foot in them, probably dont practice there, dont receive any financial support.....................
