I wonder what could have happened the past few years that would then lead to an increase the following year?

Is there a terrible journalism thread somewhere on this site?

I was thinking the same. I'm not clicking on the link (I'd rather my search history was nowt but animal porn than having to explain a visit to that loony bin) but it reads like a satirical headline. Great for stoking the outrage though, so it's doing its job.

Meanwhile in Texas the 2019 Tri Nations series has finally got going

Scotland and USA have played each other twice with honours even. They have both went on to beat the United Arab Emirates  relatively comfortably

The UAE the Scotland tomorrow and  then the hosts on Saturday

The overall table is distorted by the fact that Oman seem to have avoided a fixture backlog so have 40 points from 32 games

In points per game terms Scotland are out ahead 28 from 19

Coetzer was superb in the UAE game.

self promotion time, I spoke to ESPNcricinfo’s Peter Della Penna ahead of this series last week for my podcast. Really interesting chat about the state of cricket in the US. There’s also an interview with Scotland Women’s Megan McColl in the episode as well.

36 Orange lodge bands have descended from every god forsaken corner of Scotland to march through the streets of Edinburgh today to "commemorate HM Queen Elisabeth Platty Joobs".

We havent had the dubious pleasure of these brain donors for 3 years.

They commenced their festival of joy in the The Meadows. Coincidence that there were not one, but two cricket matches ongoing there at the same time? Not for me.

My son - who plays tennis on a Saturday morning there - commented that there were "a bunch of old fat guys in suits and orange sashes and some skinheads drinking and singing racist songs".

I felt it was my moral obligation to educate him that - while the guys in question were probably also racist - the songs they were singing were, in fact anti catholic and hence sectarian.

It’s awful

I still can’t believe how normalised these hate marches are in Scotland

Never seen one in the flesh until today when I happened to be walking up through the Meadows just as it was about to start. An utterly miserable experience. Half of the west coast must've been there, I heard very few east coast accents.
