"homophobia will not be tolerated" - it was. An Egyptian being an ape gets the benefit of doubt but not Libyans. Teachers "are" iffy, and that seems to have engendered most ire. I think Dickson's defence was that he meant apes as in stupid people rather than anything racial. Obviously using the same term to describe a similar ethnicity after it had been raised removed the benefit of the doubt. I remember a Celtic fan was prosecuted and found not guilty for calling Bobo Balde a stupid big gorilla during a game at Parkhead on the same grounds. In fact, I think I started a thread about it.
