My mum had chronic ulcers in her stomach when she was young, and the only solution they had back in the Fifties was to remove part of her stomach. Watching her struggle with her mental health for the last seven years, and knowing she’s had to endure crises of mental health and identity since she was twelve, means that this is a massive step forward and a real relief because it explains so much more than is imaginable.
