welshbairn
Very low resolution pic from a million miles away on approach. They're saying it will look like a bowling pin but I'm hoping for a cock and bawsack.

It's series of still photos sent one by one at about a kilobyte a minute*. *guess.

Once it's transmitted there's nothing to stop it carrying on forever. You just need a very big earpiece to pick up the signal. What I'd like to know if the signal gets scrambled after a while from encountering dust or planets and stuff. It slows down a bit but will planets in Andromeda get quality reception of the Still Game eventually? If they do, they will launch an invasion fleet as soon as Methadone Mick turns up.

Harrison Schmitt (NASA geologist who flew on Apollo 17) campaigned pretty hard to get the last Apollo flight onto the dark side - and particularly the polar region - back in 72, but NASA management felt the risks involved were too great, or at the least the costs involved in mitigating the risks were too great for an organisation then being ruthlessly trimmed down.

dorlomin
Oh my sweet fucking Jesus, that is cool. SpaceX testing their crewed vehicle fits the launch pad before an uncrerwed test flight to ISS either later this month or early the next. If all goes well, there is a follow up abort test that will be pretty awesome to watch and US astronauts to the ISS mid year.
