Aye, game was decent, draw probably a fair result, the pie was stone cold and horrendous though. Unsure if the referee was just horrendously incompetent or just a plain fucking cheat, was quite amusing seeing him summon a steward for a bit of protection and an escort off the pitch at full time, fucking blouse.. -

Eighteen quid itself is a ridiculous price for this level of football to start with but, why the hell do a club in the basement league feel they have to make it eticket entry only, totally disuading the casual fans who may decide to take in a game at the last minute, on a whim type thing, we are talking about East Fife here, not fucking Real Madrid....... Can't get my head round that, why would you put off folk who might just decide on the day of the game to go to the match by not having cash turnstiles, it's fucking East Fife for fucks sake... why do they need to have ticket admission only, digital or otherwise . Imagine an old guy, without a smartphone or internet access turning up to watch the match only to be told no and he has to walk away, farcical. Between that and the extortionate admission of 18 pounds I genuinely wonder if they actually want people to attend their matches, absolute minter. Would be genuinely interested to hear from anyone here the logic in this and the opinions of the locals on both the admission price and the etickets only policy. So if I decide at the last minute to head to Parkhead to watch Celtic, I can pay cash at the gate and not have to bother with a ticket in advance? Thought not. Thought not. I think the argument here, is that Celtic will be sold out, largely based on the amount of season ticket holders, which works in the Premiership. However, we seem to be doing our utmost, at smaller clubs, these days to chase away, casual fans by making it harder, when we should be doing all we can to attract the likes of. I've felt for a while, top flight football is only geared at season ticket holders, now lower leagues seem to be following suit.

Fair enough to an extent, but Celtic won't sell out next Saturday against St Mirren nor in the last round against Morton. However, you won't be able to walk up and hand over cash at the turnstile. The fact you can buy tickets with cash at a booth a few yards from the turnstiles suggests East Fife aren't doing much wrong with their actual system ( other than the pricing). Life on Marrs?
Its not a booth as such, but the desk at the reception. This is not publicised though, as I think the club would rather you didnt do this. If you're an away fan ir not a regular you wouldn't be aware of this.

There is also no discount on the website ie parent and child for £21 which we get every week. It also means if you are ever bringing an under 5 child you have to go into the office as there is no option for that. I don't even know if the club let under 5s in for free. Probably £10!

I can kind of understand that (not the alleged tenner for under 5s). A few seasons ago the Rovers stopped their concession turnstiles so kids, students, OAPs etc had to buy their tickets from a booth and provide ID. The proportion of full paying adults rose considerably as it reduced fraud. What clubs are doing now is generally no different to what happens at the cinema - you either buy tickets online in advance or you pay at the desk, walk to the cinema you're going into and hand over your ticket or phone to be scanned. There's no perfect solution for everyone, but I can't see it being an issue for anyone remotely interested in going to a game. My son went along to an East Fife game last season when the Rovers were playing on the Sunday (possibly East Fife v Airdrie) and the ticketing system was absolutely seamless.

After paying my son in a few times, I began to carry him in & always said to the turnstile operator, an adult & an under 5. Was never an issue, then the same when my daughter came along. This season though, my youngest is now 5, so I don't know if that's still the case. It's only £3 extra for a child + an adult ticket. Every club will be different, but if I remember, kids were free, with an adult at Bonnyrigg.

Guys in the turnstiles wont want the confrontation & it reduces the pressure from mates etc trying to get in cheaper. As it's quite dark going through, probably not easy to tell how old some supporters are either. Your relying on honesty.

What happens though if say we have a sell out cup game but I want to bring my 3 year old? I doubt the club will be giving free seats.

Dont worry yourself about the club giving away free seats at a sold out cup game, if its sold out your kid would have to sit on your knee for the whole game...
