That could be how you're able to re-sign all these players, and if so, fair play for having it in place where most other clubs do not. Completely forgot about this actually. This likely may be the answer. ETA: I've not got time to read it right now but chairman update just released. Life on Marrs?
Fucking brilliant news to get Dunsmore signed up again, as someone else said, rather have him for 2 years, that Dowds for just 1! Absolutely brilliant work by all!

However, given the current circumstances and the fact there appears a high probability East Fife won’t play league football again in 2020, certainly not in front of fans, are the board not taking quite a big financial risk having so many players signed up with no guaranteed date for regular income? Not a wind up, just a genuine question, it seems to be the opposite approach to most other part time teams in League One and Two. Do East Fife have a lot of cash in the bank? Or are the board willing to take the risk in the hope of an earlier restart and can fund the club through if next season doesn’t happen till 2021 (if at all)? With the exception of Collins, the rest are all extensions. The furlough scheme is in place until end of October, to help with thier wages so it's not that risky, the clubs that have let all their players go won't be able to use furlough. We should see some, socially distanced crowds at league 1/2 level, with the £50k Philanthropist money to look forward to, if Neil Doncaster doesn't f**k it up!

East Fife do have Business Interruption insurance, including closure for diseases, however, when we enquired about this last week, we were advised that we would not be covered by that insurance as the stadium hadn’t been closed due to an incident of this coronavirus on the premises. We are currently checking whether our position changes now that we’ve entered a government mandated shutdown. Been in the rags of late that insurance companies refusing the cover and companies/businesses threatening to take it to the courts The furlough scheme is in place until end of October, to help with thier wages so it's not that risky, the clubs that have let all their players go won't be able to use furlough. Suppose these clubs that have let players go will see it as no wages to pay at all Edited June 5, 2020 by Rovers_Lad

Diamond10
As mentioned before don’t think Dunsmore was ever on our radar in the last few weeks anyway . Solid squad you’ve got signed up for next season

Its not only a game
East Fife fans buzzing with having the squad that finished 5th place this season near enough all signed up for next season [emoji23][emoji23]Aye you might be right- or maybe we believe in continual development- continual improvement- and with a few additions we may have a team that can get promoted within budget that doesn’t put the club at risk or depend on donors from a sugar daddy or management’s private business. Anyway Don’t really care. You guys have done really well and wish you well- we EF fans are for the first time in many years happy with our team and the continual progress

LiamA
East Fife fans buzzing with having the squad that finished 5th place this season near enough all signed up for next season [emoji23][emoji23]Yeah but no but yeah! Yes we were 5th when the season was curtailed but have been 4th after beating you guys, 3rd after beating Raith the following week, then would have been on Raith & Falkirk’s coat tails til the final day when who knows where that would have left us. Play offs then a breeze! In my head anyway! Nobody thought Arbroath would have progressed with a settled squad & look at them now, a model to follow imo.

Agree I think teams who resign existing players and use the furlough scheme could end up better financially and be able to cherry pick the better talent to improve the squad, I fear for teams who have shat it and have to throw a team togetber quickly with money at a premium.... That is the reason clubs are vying for a January start where crowds may be back.. Players realistically will be getting signed up 6 to 8 weeks prior to season start be it October or January, Short term thinking by some clubs c could come back to haunt them.
Big Fifer
Finally read the update from the board. It's testament to the hard work done by the guys at the club that EFtv is being used as the model for potential closed door games. Good to hear that we're taking advantage of the furlough scheme, and if the season does start in January, I'd imagine we'll be in a pretty solid position.

If it's later than that, it'll probably be a disadvantage. We'll see how it plays out. I'm not sure there's an overly safe option at the moment tbh.
