Haha did the highlights show a single time your keeper kicked the ball and it stayed in the park.
Always feel it's an absolute sin when keepers can't keep it in the pitch from a goal kick. Have got 71 yards wide of pitch to aim for and somehow miss that [emoji23][emoji23]

We had one attacking player who was able to head the ball effectively on Saturday - Grant Anderson. He pulled onto the full back as there’s a far higher chance of him winning a header v him as they are generally less good in the air than a centre back. Sometimes the kick is slightly off and it goes out the park and we have to defend a throw in 70 yards from goal. It’s still a preferable situation than having a centre half tower over John Baird and header it 30 yards back directly towards our goal but football fans are generally stupid and struggle to understand that and would rather we just launch every goal kick right up the middle of the park 🤷🏻‍♂️

We were so lacking in heading ability in the middle of the park on Saturday that when defending goal kicks we withdrew Anderson to the defensive midfielder role to challenge the high ball.

Arbroath are making a more than decent fist of it in the Championship at the mo as a part time team against full time teams  bar one

A benefit from being full time should be being able to work on tactics, formations, set plays and the likes but watching us sometimes makes you wonder what we do at training 😉

Being full time at this level doesn’t give you a massive advantage anymore in terms of fitness. Players look after themselves a lot better now than they did a few years ago. Playing a number of games in short succession takes its toll though, like what happened to us last season.

Arbroath should be an inspiration to all part time teams like ourselves. I still think they'll do well to finish higher than 9th though. As with Alloa before them & Dumbarton recently it's not just the part time status that eventually bites you, but the small crowds & lack of budget.

If Arbroath stay up they'll miss the Dundee Utd money & possibly Dundee also next year, mind you Hearts will bring a big support!

Davidson was missed in Saturday. Wouldn't say we need a whole new midfield.

Who you signing and who you taking out the team for them...

Agree with you re don’t need a new midfield. Would /could do with a powerful/ strong Midfielder that would allow Agnew to float from middle to front!

We missed Davidson but long said we need to strengthen midfield( 1 person) as affects both defence and attack- will only get such a person on loan like Montrose have had the past few seasons....

I think that, as a whole, East Fife, Raith and Airdrie are all benefiting from more cohesive teams this season, where Falkirk’s full-time mercenaries are still struggling to find a comfortable formation and style of play. The part time and hybrid teams seem to be benefiting from a connection to the community that Falkirk fans are lamenting as missing. The sleeping giant still hasn’t stirred, and so all three of us are still in the race, with Montrose making up ground. That East Fife and Raith slowed in the second quarter is easily put down to injuries and suspensions...something Airdrie seems to have pretty successfully avoided so far.

This January window will be critical for all involved teams, with the three of us looking for some small additions while Falkirk seek the key to unlock their side’s potential. I’m starting to believe that the Falkirk decision to keep the temporary managers through the season may play into all our hands, but a signing or two could change that. I don’t see East Fife, Airdrie or the Rovers making a splash in January, but you never know.

Our average crowd is 1600 so far. Some Full time teams get less. Even in our games against the smaller FT teams we are getting in 1200 or so, we've had about 1000 actual Arbroath fans through the gates for most games this season ( say 1500 home fans for united and 900 for Alloa, obviously depends on the game ) and a hospitality of 150 places at £90 a head sold out. Only having to pay part time wages with they crowds probably works in our favour.

After seeing the standard of this league and the points that in my opinion we have dropped so far I'd be gutted to finish 9th.

Totally random but.

Does anyone know the following things regarding us??

Most clean sheets this decade

Most appearances this decade

Most goals this decade

Most assists this decade

These are complete guesses and therefore probably completely wrong, but I would go for:

Goodfellow

King Kev

Fash or King Kev

Jesus Lamont

A defensive midfielder, who’s also a bit hard would be great, but I think we already have a couple already, once Dunlop is back I think Janny or Murdoch could easily play in that position with the other at RB!!!
In fact isn’t that Murdoch’s actual position and where he’s actually played for every other Club he has been with???

Well said KK. Yes Murdoch’s best position is centre midfield. Although he has done a decent job at RB he is not overly comfortable moving out with the ball and starting play and attacks. Janny is much better at the RB role and links well with Dunsmore.

Over the last few years the East Fife midfield have done a very decent job, they do however lack that ‘grinder’ type player which Murdoch provides. Also, his presence would provide cover and allow midfield players a break from time to time. Sometimes the midfield appears soft when they are not fully on their game and tired as we rely on them to often without giving them a break.

DY tried Murdoch as CM v Cowdenbeath early on in the season. It didn’t work but, this was because he was in beside Hunter and they are too similar type players. Murdoch, Agnew and Davidson as a centre midfield 3 would work, providing legs and strength to allow Agnew to play.

One further point to make - King Kebabs for Director of football, he is very tactically aware and calls it before most people see it. Baller#

Aye, I'm still in a state of delirium ...

Good result Saturday Raith_Raver your team played very well. You need to get over yourself now though and move on. It’s a long season to get through and I am not sure that Rovers have either the bottle or know how to get out of this league. Time for your team to switch on and deliver. You have been underachieving for far too long with a bigger budget, full time players and large support.

Your team and management have let the fans down for far to long and you have been the joke of Scottish football. Time to toughen up, deliver and do what you say you are going to do.  You have been poor for far too long.
