Let's All Laugh At Celtic Thread

Recommended Posts

You not heard the news .... Sion all over again.

@RobertBlaszczak: Legia's right-back Bereszyński was red-carded last season but wasn't registered vs St Patrick's to serve his suspension.

@RobertBlaszczak: It could still be a matter of interpretation but things don't look bright for Legia as we speak. UEFA have confirmed an investigation.

@RobertBlaszczak: It's Celtic v Sion all over again and a nightmare scenario for Legia who comfortably defeated Celtic over two legs.

Not sure what would be more pleasing to be honest, Celtic losing this appeal and being stuck with the shitey Europa League or Celtic winning this and being hunted in the last qualifying tie meaning they would be out of europe altogether?

BBC reporting highlights a more relevant precedent than Sion

http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/28693855

However, in 2010, Uefa fined Debrecen £15,000 but rejected a protest from opponents Litex Lovech, who wanted the Hungarian side kicked out of the tournament for fielding an ineligible player.

Debrecen argued that they fielded Peter Mate in good faith as a substitute in Bulgaria when they were leading 4-1 on aggregate.

Uefa ruled that Debrecen had "no interest in fielding this player for the three last minutes of additional time, when the score was so clearly in its favour."

If he wasn't registered vs St Pats and Legia are found guilty then surely St Pats should progress through the last round and face Celtic? St Pats pumping Celtic would be even funnier.

He was suspended for St Pats and didn't play. Their result is sound.

However, as he was meant to be named in the squad if they wanted the suspension to count for that game............they are fooked.

They appear to be slightly different in that the player Debrecen played wasn't banned. Not sure how it'll all work, if he was indeed not on the squad list for st pats then looks like the rules are fairly clear.

Difference.

He wasn't listed in the squad.

The Legia player was banned from the game.
