Jacksgranda
Anyone else have to do one? Got mine done the day, now I'm up to 62%. Would have done a wee jig round the treatment room but I don't have the puff.
ka202
I had asthma when I was a wee boy but grew out it through puberty and such like. I remember almost having an attack doing it once, my lungs were shit but it was like flicking a switch when they got better. Between the age of 13-15 I was completely cured. I think the last one I did was my medical for work which was 87% or something.
Jacksgranda
I got the impression - obviously wrongly! - that my lung capacity was snookered and wouldn't increase. It has gone from 55% to 58% last year to 62%. Either that, or I'm getting better at blowing into the machine!
the snudge
Can you do it online?
archie guevara
Can you do it online? There's an iPhone app. You just need to blow into the microphone and it can detect how strong your lungs are. Truly amazing.
Bigmouth Strikes Again
Get one done once a year through my job, always pass although I smoke, can't remember the % though, probably because I'm too busy staring at the nurse, who's a right honey.

No doubt there is a doctor or a nurse lurking who could tell us. Edited April 24, 2013 by Jacksgranda

utdtillidie
I got a lung test at the doctors after an illness, turns out I have the lungs of a 42 year old. Im 37 so not so bad considering I used to be a social smoker. For some reason i thought the lungs had the ability to repair themselves but apparently not.

Jacksgranda
I'm now down to 46%, but as it was 47% last year, the nurse was reasonably happy. I was delighted, as I thought it would have been worse, as I felt I had deteriorated this year. I'm being put on a new inhaler, my wife's friend is on it, and she swears by it "F*****g brilliant", she says. Last year's result was so disastrous I ended up getting an X-ray, a scan and a consultation with a specialist!

Jacksgranda
Are you a smoker? Not any more, stopped about 5 years ago, I think. If I was still smoking i doubt if I'd still be here. The consultant said stopping smoking was the best thing I could have done, but he would say that, wouldn't he? Quite frankly, I've never felt right since I stopped!

Deeboy
Last time I got done in work (fnarr) I can't remember the % but I was 'the best they've had in a while' (fnarr squared) .. I had the lungs of an Olympic swimmer was the backpat I got. I can't swim and there's absolutely no danger I'm even half as good, about 4 years on.

Jacksgranda
Do you still get the notion for a ciggie? Very, very occasionally, but the notions really are few and far between. We were just talking about smoking at work yesterday, and I was astonished to discover that 2 of my colleagues used to smoke, although one was one of those guys who would smoke only 2 a day. There is a young guy in the office who "smokes" - I think he's pushing 4 a day! What's the name of this new inhaler you're getting? Can't remember, it's replacing my Serevent one, I should get it next week, when I get it, if I remember, I'll post it on here.
Glenconner
Anybody who smokes less than 40 a day is playing at it.
