ICW deserves a thread on its own (have I missed it)

In the case of BT Gunn and Wolfgang, they settled their shit. And they ended up doing it with the NAK out of the way, so essentially it was their own thing, and it was over. And with the family thing, that can easily explain it. The Jester and Galloway thing is much more murky. I thought it started up again on that last tour, and it didn't really seem to be settled. Unless Red Lightning was the mastermind behind the whole thing. But even then, it's not an easy sell.

They might be building to a Big Damo vs. Mikey Whiplash last man standing match down the line, which sounds like fun to me.

ICW When the Sun Goes Down

This show is from Sheffield.

Kid Fite vs. Joe Coffey

These two guys had a cracking match during the Edinburgh run this year. This isn't as good, but it's a perfectly good opener. Sadly didn't see quite enough of the more aggressive version of Kid Fite. Much more like the heel version of old. Still, that version is good enough. ***1/4

Polo Promotions © vs. The UK Hooligans - ICW Tag Team Championships

A quick fun match between two fun teams. It's good to see Zak Knight still showing a lot of the old cruiser style he used, although not much of it, and he's terrific at the brawling, which Roy Knight was always great at. Polo Promotions have had a few of these wee short tag matches and they're all good fun. Seems to be their forte. Anyways, good wee match. **3/4

Sha Samuels vs. Kenny Williams

Sha Samuels is a fun character, but I'm finding his singles work in ICW to be a bit dull. It's the same stuff every time. The Grado rivalry was really good with some good matches and great interaction, but this is typical of the midcard madness we've seen from him outside of that one. *1/2

BT Gunn vs. Big Damo vs. Drew Galloway

A bit of a messy match at times, but with these three men going at it full force, that doesn't matter too much and we still get a cracking a match from all of them. Some real fun spots. The Senton spot near the end of the match is utterly brutal, and the match just doesn't let up at all. Too spot-spot-spot at times to get much more than this, but worth your time anyways. ***3/4

Mikey Whiplash vs. Lionheart

These two guys had a match at the Classic Grand which was just wonderful to experience live. The final stretch was hot as hell, especially when the overbooking kicked in. I loved the flow of this match. Just everything joined together perfectly, despite one little mistiming. The ending was brilliant, as it played on Lionheart being a total dick, and on the experience of Mikey Whiplash. Once again with a Lionheart midcard match it's about as good as this match could be. Completely unspectacular but as good as can be asked for. ***1/2

Jack Jester vs. Wolfgang

The start of Jack Jester matches are fast becoming a highlight of this tour and this one is pretty entertaining like the rest of them so far. Hoping that we get something at the SECC as well. When the actual match itself gets going, it's not actually very good. Jack Jester remains the highlight of the match with many of his antics, and steals the show a bit. So that wins the match some points. Looks like there might be some Black Label vs. NAK tension down the line as well. Nice. **

The NAK ( Stevie Boy, Kay Lee Ray and Chris Renfrew ) vs. Davey Boy, Nikki Storm and Grado

NAK vs. Davey, Grado and KLR: Ah good. More NAK multi-man tag madness. And as always, it's fittingly mental with some good rivalries coming into play. There's some good stuff to watch outside the place as well. If there's one thing that the NAK do better than anyone else, it's the crowd brawling thing. Once we get back into the ring, the match is terrific with all sorts of stories coming into play, and some belting nearfalls, and a hot as f**k crowd for all of it. Great main event. ****1/4

OVERALL

This show was a total breeze to get through. Only Williams/Samuels didn't have much in the way of redeeming factors. Everything else was at least watchable and at best brilliant.

Alrighty then. Hopefully someone will be able to explain Drew-Jester to me someday.

is it not just that they've been friends for life and after the Fear and Loathing fight last year they shook hands and made up? I can also imagine Jester turning on Drew at some point soon costing him his title.

Taken from ICW site:

The main event of ICW: Shug's Hoose Party II was a match over 3 months in the making. Overcoming every obstacle put in front of him, Big Damo finally found himself face-to-face with Drew Galloway, with the ICW World Heavyweight Championship on the line. While the match itself was an epic that saw two of Insane Championship Wrestling's very best tear each other apart, it was the conclusion of this contest that left everyone in attendance speechless, as three of the most influential names in ICW forged a union that could change the very fabric of the company forever!

After appearing to have won the ICW World Heavyweight Championship, Big Damo's moment of glory was ruined by ICW General Manager Red Lightning, who stated that the match would continue, due to the deciding pinfall being counted by referee Sean Mclauglin, and not the originally assigned official Thomas Kearins, who had been knocked out-cold during the bout. As the match was re-started, the lights dropped in a scene not unlike that of the first Shug's Hoose Party, but standing in the ring this time was Jack Jester. Mirroring Drew Galloway's return exactly one year ago, Jester confronted the ICW World Heavyweight Champion, seemingly sending a message to his former friend that he was, by no means, done with him. What happened next however, stunned every single person in attendance.

Rather than come to blows with Galloway, Jester did the unthinkable, by delivering a low blow to Big Damo, allowing Drew to hit the Future Shock DDT for the win, to retain his title. Embracing in the ring, and confirming the rebuilding of their friendship, Jester and Galloway celebrated alongisde Red Lightning with bottles of champagne, over-joyed at the defence of the ICW World Heavyweight Championship.

Many had believed for months that Red Lightning had made it his priority to protect Drew Galloway and his reign as ICW World Heavyweight Champion, and at Shug's Hoose Party II, this theory proved accurate, with three of ICW's most dominant and well-known champions of all time standing alongside one and other, on one of ICW's biggest stages of the year.

No explanation has yet been given as to how or why Red Lightning has aligned himself with The Phenom and The Hardcore Icon, but one can only assume that the protection of the ICW World Heavyweight Championship is high on Red's list of priorities. As a General Manager who knows exactly what he wants for "His Show", Red will do whatever it takes to mould ICW to his own vision, and with Drew and Jester in his corner, there may be no-one who can stop him. If a competitor like Big Damo can fall victim to the might of this new force, will anyone ever be able to get a fair shot at the ICW World Heavyweight Championship?

Until we hear an explanation for this new alliance, we can only speculate on their motivations, but one thing is for sure; Insane Championship Wrestling will never be the same again!

ICW Live Forever

The road hits Manchester!

The NAK ( Chris Renfrew and BT Gunn ) vs. Polo Promotions

This match turns into a six person tag when Nikki Storm and Kay Lee Ray get involved. ICW must realise they're onto a winner with these matches. Hot crowds and great action every time. The action was a lot of fun from the two teams before the ladies got involved. This is a bit more normal than the previous NAK matches which were just completely mental for the most part. Not to take away from the action as it was fun and well paced, if a bit unspectacular, but it's an opener and the crowd got involved, so it did it's job. ***

Liam Thomson vs. Noam Dar

So Liam Thomson is back, and to the surprise of nobody, his first match back is a fucking belter. The guy has definitely been the most consistent wrestler in ICW for a good while now, and this is yet another example of how good he is. He had a great opponent in Noam Dar though and they got plenty of time to build a good match with some great storytelling through it and, as with any other Thomson match, it has a cracking flow to it. An absolutely brilliant match and it's great to see Liam Thomson back in an ICW ring. ****1/4

Mikey Whiplash vs. Jack Gallagher

This is a rematch from Edinburgh when the NAK got involved. In this match, they got to do their thing with no interference and it was really good. They've done better in other promotions but they gave everything you'd want. Some terrific counters in the first half, especially from Gallagher who comes out with all sorts of great stuff. Turns into a hard hitting a affair but doesn't really take off by the end, which is a shame as this could have been as good as the previous match. Can't grumble too much though, as this was excellent. ***3/4

The 55 vs. Grado and Joe Coffey

This will be the "send the crowd fucking mental" match of the evening. And it works. It's standard formula stuff, which is, as always, utterly impossible to get wrong, and with a hot crowd and some good talent, you at least get a good match. Once again, Kid Fite stands out, but this was also a good showing of some of Grado's best qualities. Especially his ability to sell every move like an absolute killer, and showing why he still plays an underdog so well despite having so much success. Some nice stuff post match with Grado and Coffey as well. Good tag team fare. ***1/2

Wolfgang vs. Big Damo vs. Trent Seven

Trent Seven turns up during Damo vs. Wolfgang which annoys the fans as they were enjoying the match that they were having. I'm a bit annoyed too, as the match wasn't great. Willing to put the thumbs slightly up for it as there was a bit of a war going on at times, but it was all over the place. Looks like we're going to get Big Damo vs. Wolfgang down the line though. Excellent. **3/4

Stevie Boy © vs. Lionheart - ICW Zero G Championship

A brilliant intense sprint battle that really did a lot to make the Zero G title look like something important. Lionheart was great in full dickhead mode, while Stevie brought back a lot of his more fan friendly offense and it made for a lively crowd for a good short battle. ***

Lionheart's post-match hissy fit is amazing. Well worth watching after the match.

Drew Galloway and Jack Jester vs. Tommy End and Jimmy Havoc

What a tasty looking match this one is. A different kind of tag match to the one earlier. The crowd brawling was pretty boring for the most part. Once they got back to the ring, everything was a bit messy, but it was a reasonable amount of fun as well. The Havoc turn adds intrigue to things as well, and I can't help feeling that he's not going to be a "one man purge" much longer. Not to forget NAK attacking Paul Robinson in London earlier in the year. **3/4

OVERALL

Really good show this. You have a cracking match in the first half and most of the rest just breezes by.

ICW Imaginationland

Birmingham is the next stop, and it's on Halloween. This has some importance at times, with "Bayley" Kirkwood on commentary.

"Flash" Morgan Webster and Nikki Storm vs. Stevie Boy and Kay Lee Ray

The NAK have a very Batman villain theme, with some cracking costumes which fit the group absolutely perfectly. Perfectly acceptable opening fare from these four. Disappointed that we didn't get to see more of Webster's more spectacular stuff, and hopefully that means we're going to mean that we'll be seeing more of them in the future. Once again, Storm and KLR take centre stage and once again telegraphing the final for the tournament. As I said, this was acceptable stuff. **3/4

Kid Fite vs. Wolfgang

A bit of a nothing match this really. Almost feels like an excuse to make a nod to Bane with the back breaking ending to the match. And not much else to talk about here. Disappointing. *1/2

Polo Promotions vs. Tommy End and Mikey Whiplash

Commentators try and play us like fools telling us that they didn't massively botch a move. They did though, and there isn't even a question of how badly it was botched. Thankfully that doesn't take too much away from what was a REALLY good tag match and a proper pick up moment for this show. Not seen Polo Promotions in a proper lengthy tag match much so it's good to see them do it, and also do it well. ***1/2

Chris Renfrew vs. Grado

The brutal and serious Grado is tremendous viewing. The ending of this match fell a bit flat I thought which JUST stopped it hitting the 4* mark, but credit to both guys for a damn fine match with both guys going balls to the wall from the start, with absolutely zero comedy from Grado, and a good clean win with a bit of added anger and snide to add some edge to him. It's all good. ***3/4

Liam Thomson vs. Joe Coffey

**** ... sorry. Gut reaction rating for this match on paper. These two guys had an absolute screamer at the Garage at the tail end of 2015 so I can't wait to see if they can do the same this time out. Incredibly, they don't actually manage it, but like the last match, they're not far off. The first two thirds of the match just sail right on by, but that last few minutes aren't great and take a lot away from things. ***3/4

BT Gunn vs. Trent Seven

I absolutely loved this match. Both guys just decided to start hitting each other real hard from the word go and from there it just got more brutal. Trent Seven is a crazy fucker and BT Gunn is always willing to keep up on that score. ****

In a big moment, BT Gunn shows respect to Trent Seven. For someone from the NAK to do that is fairly rare, so I hope that means Trent Seven is getting a good run in ICW.

Jack Gallagher vs. Big Damo

This was damn fine for a midcard sprint match. They basically did a classic big man/little man formula, but did it with such ferocity that it was hard not to get wrapped up in it. It's probably Gallagher's most stand out performance in ICW yet as well, as he got to show off new sides to himself, as well as the counters that we knew about. About as good a match as you're going to get in the time that they had. ***1/4

Drew Galloway vs. Rockstar Spud

This is an odd match to watch. It's tremendous though. When ICW does overbooking right, it usually leads to the crowd going fucking batshit, and this is no exception as the crowd gets louder and louder as the match goes on. Jack Jester is the ref through most of it, but it doesn't take away and at times just adds to the drama of the whole thing. Weird as a main event, but it's the best match on the show, so fair dos. ****1/4

OVERALL

From the first tag match onwards, this is a magnificent show with all sorts of good stuff going on. Definitely a must watch for the tour.
