thelegendthatis
Government interference in the running of the game usually leads to a ban from international competition. This is NOT Government interference. All it is doing is giving the fans (not the Government) the right to buy share in the club that are being put on the market. The SFA and SPFL had plenty of time to move constructively to give fans a more positive say in the running of their clubs. Their inability and unwillingness to progress any change is a total failing in this matter. There is no doubt the laughing stock that some football clubs have been over the last few years means that if the SFA won't sort it, someone else will. The current German model (http://www.fsf.org.uk/blog/view/fan-involvement-in-football-clubs-the-german-model)%C2'> born out f the total failure of German football at national and club level. Much where the Scottish game is currently. What we lack are people at the top levels in football in Scotland with the ability and courage to change things. The fact the SFA is stuffed full of ex players ensures we are neither progressive on the pitch, nor competent off it. Will only work if supporters have a real voice on the board. Not just one representative. Look at Dundee who had a fan director who sat quietly and watched the 2 brothers bring the club down. Clearly the guy was out of his depth, but liked the blazer! The approach of Hearts is great to see, with success being a fan owned and run club. If the proposal gets the support of the Scottish Parliament there will be money available from the Government or other funders to help supporter groups get their clubs back. CathcartSkins
I have read quite a bit of nonsense about Government interference in the running of the game; but this proposal is not about interfering with the governing bodies. It may well be that this is the shot in the arm fan ownership of clubs requires and provides a framework that sellers and buyers can all work within.
