It resets the TE market, and I don't think that it is unjustified. My issue is more doing this in a scenario where the cap isn't going to rise. I think they overpaid by 2-3 million a year and certainly didn't need to give him that much guaranteed. I'm not a fan of what we gave Kelce at the moment, either, but in the end it isn't a huge deal.

RiG
Niners add Tavon Austin and JJ Nelson to the receiving core. With Deebo out for a few months yet and the receiving core pretty inexperienced after the loss of Sanders it makes sense to bring in some support. Doesn't look good for Pettis now. apparently his route running in training is fantastic but he never shows it in games. Suspect he might end up getting cut. Austin seems a Shanahan fit. Very versatile and plenty of speed. https://www.nfl.com/news/49ers-adding-receiver-help-with-tavon-austin Edited August 15, 2020 by RiG

I'd blocked Addae out of my mind until you mentioned him there, used to have one brain dead moment per game. Pretty sure he was acting like a proper c**t last season when he came back with the Texans as well.

Boo Khaki
I'd take DHB over Benjamin every day of the week. Both very limited/one-trick ponies, but Bey actually seems to have taken some coaching as he's gotten older and does occasionally come up with a play. Benjamin specialises in running away from returnable kicks and fielding ones he should be nowhere near, running through coverages and then dropping perfectly thrown passes, and diving out of bounds with 10 yards of space ahead of him in order to avoid contact. He's a coward, a footballing mental-midget, and an absolute waste of a salary. Edited August 16, 2020 by Boo Khaki

Addae would have made a serviceable SS if he'd ever just learned how to make a bog standard tackle rather than trying to completely brain the ball-carrier every single time. The hilarious thing was, he'd lay the wood on a player once or twice a season, but completely whiff three or four tackles every game, and injure himself at least once or twice a season by chucking himself head-first into a pile or at a huge body just to try and carve out a totally unwarranted rep as an 'enforcer' type. Another complete mental-midget of a player. The season he spent playing at FS is probably the single poorest season I've ever seen out of a Chargers DB, and I sat through 1-15, Sammy Davis, Antoine Cason blowing at least three coverages every game, Rogers Beckett, etc etc. Blows my mind how a guy who has been playing the game since he was a child is still completely incapable of figuring out a closing angle and making a tackle. Hilarious how often he'd come roaring up towards the ball carrier, just for the carrier to saunter straight past him without Addae even getting close to making contact. Utter clown who made Tre Boston look like prime Ronnie Lott by comparison.

He is comfortably worst NFL player I have ever seen. Cant run routes, cant catch, cant block, doesn't know the plays. He can run really fast in a straight line and that's literally it.
RiG
Nice video from Alex Smith's partner celebrating his return to practice almost two years after that leg injury. I'd be surprised if can complete his comeback but I really hope he does. Seems like a very likeable guy. lichtie23
So that’s Jalen Hurd of the Niners and Gerald McCoy of the Cowboys with “serious looking knee injuries”

die hard doonhamer
The Cardinal's Robert Alford out for the season, again. Torn pectoral muscle this time (broken leg last year). That'll be him 2 years in to his 3 year deal without a single game played. Might be time for the Cardinals to cut their losses on him (though I don't think cutting him this year actually saves any money at this point).
